In reply to: The Paywalls of Mental Health

I use it to discuss a flawed critique I've seen online of the assessment services from Embrace Autism.

The critique is focused on the fact the service doesn't involve a large expensive team of MD's spending a huge amount of in-person time. That's a financial barrier that only a tiny number of people could pass.

  4. A beautiful little touch by #AutismFriendly #DCU using laser-engraved oak from Albert Park for a very tactile caption "The Power of an #Autistic Lens" to the wall art.

  5. The Hunt #Museum in #Limerick is working with #AsIAmIreland to become an accredited #AutismFriendly venue.

The Hunt Museum is also hosting a #multisensory exhibition entitled Seeing Without Sight, from August 12 to October 1, enabling #blind and #VisuallyImpaired visitors to experience a historic journey via #tactile objects and #AudioDescription.

  11. #Autistic people are #disabled because the way the world is constructed - for the ease and comfort of the majority of people - is a world that #disables us.

#Disablement is an active choice. We do not have to make design choices that #exclude people. #AutismFriendly design is rarely expensive and always #PeopleFriendly.

  15. CW: trauma stuff

    @NinjaWerewolf @TheAutisticTooter Yes, I relate to this.

My main anxiety inducing interactions (caused by being conned or people making mistakes) that throw me into a research spin are:
    *Tradesmen
    *Mechanics
*Doctors - and anyone else remotely medical.
    *Lawyers
    *Teachers

We need #AutismFriendly and #AutismAware professionals!

  16. @TheAutisticTooter Having thought about this, I think there is a little anxiety and undoubtedly perfectionism, but as you say, for me there is joy in knowing something has been done properly!
