It's #AutismAwarenessMonth. Well, almost over. As an #ActuallyAutistic person I thought I'd share a bit of my life being different. It's a bit long so feel free to ignore me. I've never really talked about it to anyone, except my wife. I didn't really have a direction for this blog post, I just started brain dumping. Hope you find it interesting. If not, that's OK too.

Dedicated School For Autistic Students Scrapped By Edmonton Public School Board

@johnnyprofane1 My desires for this month are merely for recognition that we exist, that we aren’t a danger to anyone, and perhaps the tiniest bit of acceptance and understanding. I’m so very tired of being othered, scapegoated, treated like we’re diseased, etc.

As for species at large, our diversity is a strength to the collective. Homogeneity is the danger, adds risk of extinction. So go with the diversity and we all thrive together!

I'm using o4-mini to collect various subjective sensory metrics from me several times per day over time to help me look for patterns in my CNS and develop strategies for energy mgmt and meltdown risk reduction. Already yielding wins with 3.5 days of data!

@actuallyautistic Oh, and yeah. I was the one who won the 50-yard and 100-yard dashes in HS (against fellow AFABs, but could have competed with the boys), and I graduated with HONORS from HS and College (with a degree specializing in Ancient Greek), and have loved and been loved by many. I've had a full life (but it could have been way fuller *IF* I hadn't been bullied and knew more about my unique abilities -- not disabilties -- at a younger age)!

@actuallyautistic Ummmm... Level 2 #Autist with #ADHD over here. I've have the same job for 20 years and have been married for 15. I even know how to use the bathroom and have written short stories, plays and poems! Oh, and I did receive my refund check from the IRS (damn, I will miss paper checks!).

RFK JR. said today that children with autism will face a lot of "nevers" in their lives, including never holding a job and never going on a date.

"RFK Jr.'s wild claim went further than just saying kids with autism will never have a job or fall in love, as according to him, they won't be able to play sports, write creatively, or use the bathroom unattended either.
