Trying to get back into story writing after a poetry-infused-mental-hiatus.
What do you think of this stand alone piece?Awakened by the soft hue of light on the snow she stretched out of her sleeping bag. Unzipping the icy door she braced for the cold air to enter her throat as she breathed. Nothing came, she poked her head out of the tent, which was now flapping in a light breeze. Before her was an astounding sight. Gone were the ice laden tufts of grass, the once frozen lake glittered bright blue awash with ripples from creatures below. Bright green, strong leaves danced in the trees. The sun, hot on the horizon, was glowing and burning as bright as ever. What was once so cold, had needed just one night to thaw. She smiled and launched herself into the warm, dry grass before her, feeling it tickle her arms.
