When I saw that Steve Smith was going to captain Australia today I knew what a lot of the commentary would be about.

This is my opinion based on watching and reading about the events surrounding the sandpaper incident.

Steve Smith took full responsibility and showed remorse from day one and accepted the judgements from both the international and domestic governing bodies. The press has never let him move on though.

David Warner, as I understand, was the instigator and the one to pressure a young team member to engage in what is considered cheating. He has never shown remorse or taken responsibility for his actions. Yet the press seems to have completely forgiven him. Why has he been so protected by the management and press?
He may be a good cricketer, but I would have been quite happy for him to have never been eligible to play first-class cricket again.
