Among the news, the ASA/HQ Fiction Prize.

Submit your unpublished novel.

Entries close 30 January 2026, 5pm (Australian Eastern Daylight Time).

First prize is a publishing contract with Harper Collins, and $10,000 Australian advance against royalties.

I have an unpublished novel.

In what countries do the government compensate authors for library loans of their books and what are your schemes called?

Great news out of Australia today that Australian authors who have enjoyed a lending right system (PLR & ELR) for print books for years (ie: we get paid per loan to compensate us for the book sale), will now also be compensated for ebook and audiobook loans (DLR)! Great comments from new government Arts minister about the importance of the arts too after years of neglect.
