  1. I woke up with the words ‘a vision splendid’ - I had been dreaming of stars - and it took me a while for the words to find a place:

‘In the murmur of the breezes and the river on its bars,
And he sees the vision splendid of the sunlit plains extended,
And at night the wondrous glory of the everlasting stars.’ (Clancy of the Overflow)

And I wondered, do they still teach poetry in Australian schools? Australian colonial poetry?

  5. A hardcopy of the book I did cover and layout for earlier this year has arrived!
As always I don't like to look too closely when things first come back from the printers but the poet is super happy.

  8. LOOK AT MY LITTLE POETRY BOOK in the middle of this stack of phenomenal reads from a phenomenal reader. *swoon*

Posted @withregram from Astrid Edwards: BOOKS READ IN MAY: 13. The PhD is f*%king with my reading and I now have glasses. 🫠 A few thoughts.

I am so glad I have started to engage properly with poetry. Omar Sakr and Kate Larsen, thank you! I’ve interviewed both of you for Garret Podcast.

  11. What's everyone up to today?

For me, it's dog park, then book design day. Am working with a client I have had for about 15 years. He's a poet and every few years he tracks me down and I get a book ready for print for him. This time he travelled across the country to meet in person. Should have it finalised today!

    Images soon.
