I went out to our Gatton Campus today for a job, and while I charged the car, I took in some of the local bird life.
The Noisy Miners were busy harassing everyone, the Magpie followed me from tree to tree talking to me, the Crested Pigeon was not interested in being within 20m of me, so took refuge in a Jacaranda tree, and there were several Little Friarbirds flitting about.

Heard a radio show about #Birds.
And whether wild birds mimic human made noises.
They claimed not, even had the Attenborough team member who'd recorded a captive bird which he was unhappy about cause he think wild birds don't mimic human made noises.
So I don't know if it was wild or a suburban hipster or escaped but a young "preteen" #AustralianMagpie mimicked police/ambulance siren and a whippersnipper with me in my backyard.

The wind is having a go outside despite the sun (what am I talking about? Like wind "cares" if it's sunny. Have a word with yourself) . It's blowing through something nearby (a guttering pipe?) that makes a sound not unlike the song of the Australian magpie. #wind #sound #AustralianMagpie

The leucistic magpie (mostly white magpie, famous around UQ), seems to have bred again, as this semi-leucistic magpie is presumably another of its brood.
Also, Noisy Miners are all over campus at the moment. They are by far, the most prominent bird there.

Happy Friday!
This morning our resident Swamp Wallaby was in the backyard and was so engaged with nibbling tasty grass that I managed to leave the house and take the car out without it hopping away. This also meant I got a few photos too.
Then, upon getting to work, I found the White Magpie again. Clearly a good day for wildlife.

The Wrong Magpie returns! A featured story today on #RNZ is a great story about Australia-based wildlife biologist Grainne Cleary. But is that really an #AustralianMagpie, as RNZ's photo caption claims? Of course not. It's a #EurasianMagpie! It doesn’t look like an Aussie magpie, because it's not even in the same bird Family. Our friendly magpie was back today, foraging for worms and bugs in the backyard, with a new friend, a Pied Currawong.
They seemed to get along ok together.
