  1. #NewZealand writer Eugene Doyle of Solidarity joins Pascal Lettaz of Neutrality Studies to discuss the #NZPol Prime Minister Chris Luxon and his RW government’s abandoning of the NZers kidnapped from the #SumudFlotilla in international waters and beaten by Israel terrorists.

This interview breaks down the shameful complicity of #Luxon along with #AusPol PM #Albanese and western governments in the #genocide occurring in #Gaza and allowing #Israel to torture civilian citizens of #NZ and #Australia.

Note the absolute silence of these #CrimesAgainstHumanity in #NZMedia and #AusMedia also complicit in these appalling crimes being committed by #Israel.

Regardless of what you think of PM Luxon and foreign affairs minister Winston Peters as politicians there’s no doubt that they are #WarCriminals failing to uphold their obligations to support NZ citizens being tortured for attempting to provide international humanitarian aid.

  2. Australian TV media challenge (impossible): don't send your reporters, endangering their lives, outside in the middle of a cyclone, while telling the public to stay inside.

FFS. Why do you always do this? ABC Australia: Nate while live on air, "oh and we've just lost power".

ABC don't you fucking dare kill Nate!

  3. Why am I putting myself through the torture of listening to Insiders? Spewsie has a tone of glorious gloating as if he's ecstatically feeding from disaster - wars mean lots of work for second-rate journos, though he's really tenth-rate. WTF has he got Baarnabee as a commentator?????? #TheirABC #auspol #ausmedia

  4. Four Corners has long been regarded as the ABC's flagship investigative journalism program – and often Australia's premier current affairs show.
Yet there are several strong arguments why it no longer fully deserves that top-tier status.

  6. Imagine reporting the death of Jeffrey #Epstein without mentioning his many horrific crimes, and having the only quote in a news bulletin be a gushing tribute from his partner-in-crime #GhislaineMaxwell.

That's effectively what #ABC did in this morning's news headlines about the death of another notorious criminal.

Epstein may well have abused over one thousand victims.

The victims of Dick Cheney's crimes number in the millions.

  8. Often computer history focuses on the US (or UK), but rarely Australia.

This article reveals how Ozisoft, the Aussie distributor for Sega, went into print publishing and shut out Mattel (which distributed Nintendo):

"The news section of Megazone issue 11, dated December 1990, starts with a glorified press release. It states that over 100,000 Sega Master Systems have been sold in Australia and that things are going gangbusters.

"What it fails to mention is that the magazine’s publisher is OziSoft. Which also happens to be the local distributor of Sega products.

"The cover of that same issue featured the new King’s Quest 5 game for PC alongside a glowing preview across several pages. Coincidentally, King’s Quest is another one of OziSoft’s local releases.

"Growing up, I didn’t know any of that. Because a 12-year-old kid doesn’t really know or care about licensing, distribution, or ‘corporate synergy’.
    ...
"While Megazone went out with a whimper, its final issue barely noticed, the magazine’s legacy, and its influence on Australian gaming can’t be underestimated. It made Sega a household name, sold a generation of kids on the Master System, and helped OziSoft outgun and outsell Nintendo when the 16-bit generation arrived on our shores.

"For better or worse, the conflicted nature of Megazone shaped a generation of kids. Even if we didn’t know it at the time.
    ...
"Looking back at Megazone with the benefit of hindsight it’s clear that the lines between journalism and marketing were often blurred.

"That’s a view that Stuart Clarke agrees with. And he should know, given he was the editor from 1992 to 1993."

  10. This should have been a bigger news story.

More media consolidation in Australia, with Seven looking to buy radio station operator Southern Cross Austereo.

SCA owns Triple M, Fox FM Melbourne, and 2Day FM Sydney.

If approved, the big competitors to Seven's radio stations will be Nine (which owns 2GB, 3AW, 4BC, 6PR) and also Lachlan Murdoch (Nova, Smooth FM, Coles Radio, 5AA).

  11. These two can’t both be true:

On one hand, negative gearing is supposedly inconsequential to housing supply, rental stock, or renters.
On the other, investor borrowing—supercharged by tax perks like negative gearing—is literally choking out first-time buyers from homeownership.
And let’s not forget Victoria. Despite tougher land taxes and investor levies, there’s been no mass exodus of landlords and no collapse in rental availability. So much for the scare campaign that “reform will kill rentals.”

One of these stories is full of it. And it’s not the one showing how investors are flooding the market.

I wonder how many negatively-geared properties the author owns?

  12. This Sinclair Davidson op-ed* insists that scrapping negative gearing won’t solve the housing crisis—and is simply ideological fluff. It claims “reforming” the scheme won’t build a single home, won’t help a single renter, and will only make life tougher for “small investors,” while claiming state governments benefit from high prices via tax revenue and thus oppose affordability reform.

    crikey.com.au/2025/08/15/negat

But hold up—just next door, a Guardian headline reports property investors borrowed a record $130 billion in the year to June 2025. They’re hogging the market, pushing out first-time buyers—116,000 new FHB mortgages issued vs nearly 200,000 investor loans, the highest level for landlords since 2022.

  13. Media Watch lifts the lid on BYD bribing influencers and threatening critics — and some Aussie motoring journos took the cash while reviewing the very cars they were paid to promote.
Truth is, this kind of media manipulation isn't new — car companies have been wining, dining and quietly paying off reviewers since the dawn of motoring journalism. What's changed is how blatant and aggressive it's become.
This isn’t just bad ethics — it’s a public trust issue.

  14. MacroBusiness: another one bites the dust.
Today’s headline — “The new house price boom begins” — is pure property spruik propaganda. But if you actually read the article, it ends in a tone of deep concern about housing unaffordability, immigration-driven demand, and structural market failure. So which is it?
This is classic bait-and-switch — reel in the punters with bullish noise, then quietly mutter about the mess underneath. It’s dishonest, and it’s deliberate.
MacroBusiness once stood apart — sharp, data-driven, unafraid to challenge the real estate lobby or mainstream economic spin. But that era is over. These days, they’re churning out the same manipulated messaging as the rest. A compromised rag peddling housing FOMO while pretending to lament the consequences.
This isn’t journalism — it’s narrative management for vested interests.

  15. A foreign-owned media empire not only shaping the housing debate, but profiting directly from it?
Murdoch’s News Corp now owns real estate listings, mortgage platforms, property data firms and most of the media megaphone in this country — and they’re using that platform to steer the national housing conversation in ways that just so happen to benefit... themselves.
It’s no longer just bias — it’s vertical integration of propaganda and profit. A single company now helps drive housing policy outcomes by flooding the public sphere with editorials, headlines, and slanted coverage — while quietly monetising the very market conditions it helps create.
Where are the regulators? Where’s the outrage? Why is a foreign-controlled corporation allowed to manipulate both sides of the ledger — public opinion and private finance — while pretending it’s just journalism?
This is not a free press — this is a real estate racket with a printing press.

  17. Australia's a country where Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch dominate the media. Almost all the other commercial news outlets are owned by Nine, Kerry Stokes, or Paramount.

It's vitally, critically important that alternative outlets, especially member-owned ones like FBi Radio, not only survive but thrive: https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2025/jun/26/everyone-was-completely-caught-off-guard-fbi-radios-future-unclear-as-station-launches-emergency-fundraising-campaign #auspol #ausmedia #Sydney #FBiRadio

  18. @NewtonMark Every night when I go home
I settle down to prime-time limbo
When all the boys are gathered around
    Shoutin' "Ita's on TV"!
And though the roaches are thick on the ground
Somebody goes to close our window
Keep the noise of the city down
    Get a dose of integrity!

    Every week, in every home
She's got wholesome news for the family!

I believe, I believe, in what she says, yes I do!

I believe, I believe, at the end of the day
Her magazine will get me through!

Ita's tongue never touches her lips
She could always be my godmother
And though the desktop hides her hips
    My imagination's strong
She's the sweetest thing I've ever seen
I'd like to take her out to dinner
But when I think about the places I've been
I'd probably hold my fork all wrong

    Every day and every night
She's the only one we can depend upon!
I believe, I believe, in what she says, yes I do!
I believe, I believe, at the end of the day
Her magazine will get me through

To every housewife through the land
There is no-one else they can depend upon!
How could I not believe what Ita tells me to?

    Every day and every night
She's the only one we can depend upon!

How could I not believe what Ita tells me to?

Yes it's true, what Ita tells me to!

  20. @InsurgoFormica Exactly! And don’t hold your breath for much negative coverage either — not when realestate.com.au is raking it in and the Murdoch-controlled media depends on property ads for their bread and butter. Too much money at stake to bite the hand that feeds them.

  21. This is an atrociously bad article, that I can only put down to the ABC refusing to use direct Al Jazeera reporting. Not only do they not mention the Israeli drones telling people to go to the GHF kill zone, they don't mention that there are eye witness accounts of Israeli soldiers shooting at civilians, and ABC even attempt to suggest it's Hamas.

ABC's problem is they use news sources that cherry-pick from AJ, and are vetted by the Israeli regime
