  1. Texas Tribune: Texas will audit up to 300 projects, mostly data centers, after Gov. Greg Abbott’s order. “The audit and verification of data centers ordered by Gov. Greg Abbott will involve about 250 to 300 projects, most of which are data centers, state grid operator officials told the Public Utility Commission on Friday.”

  2. #Audits exist for one reason: to identify problems before they become institutional failures.

This article examines multiple audit observations concerning #IITRopar during the tenure of Prof. Rajeev Ahuja and asks a simple question:

Were the issues adequately addressed—or merely recorded?

Read the documents and decide for yourself.

  3. #Texas Governor #GregAbbott has #halted new #datacentre projects until they undergo #audits by the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) and the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT). The move comes as ERCOT’s interconnection queue, primarily driven by data centre proposals, has surged to over five times its peak demand. Abbott aims to gather information on data centre electricity and water usage, noise mitigation, and other factors. techcrunch.com/2026/08/04/texa #tech #news #ainews

  4. Q: why does democracy bring the most competent in corruption into power?

#ChatGPT: Because #democracy often rewards the people who are best at winning #elections, not necessarily the people who are best at governing.

In #corrupt systems, that can favor candidates who are skilled at:

    building patronage networks
    manipulating messaging
    collecting donations
    trading favors
    exploiting weak rules

If voters don’t have good information, or if institutions are weak, the most “competent” political operators can be the ones most competent at corruption.

But it’s not democracy itself that causes this. It’s democracy plus:

    weak courts and oversight
    low transparency
    money-heavy campaigns
    polarization
voters with limited access to reliable information

Strong #democracies can do the opposite: they punish #corruption through #freemedia, #independentcourts, #audits, and real #competition.

  5. The Times Weekly: New State AI safety and transparency measure signed into law. “Senate Bill 315 requires large frontier AI developers – such as ChatGPT and Claude – to assess catastrophic risks, report critical safety incidents, undergo independent third-party audits and establish whistleblower protections for employees raising safety concerns.”

The former #judges argued that #Trump & the #FederalGovernment is improperly using the IRS lawsuit “to allow a ‘commission’ controlled by the President to dole out $1.776 billion in taxpayer dollars without constitutional or congressional authority” & to obtain “unlawful private benefits to the President & his family” by barring any #audits of prior #taxes.

  11. @randahl Every accusation is a confession.

Independent #audits of #voting data coming out from Florida and some other ’red’ states in the 2024 election are showing signs of manipulation.

Classic ”flood the zone” #propaganda tactic: When you know evidence against you is about to come out, release several competing counter narratives to confuse the public into not believing anything.

#Axon Enterprise’s Draft One — a generative artificial intelligence product that writes police reports based on audio from officers’ body-worn cameras — seems deliberately designed to avoid #audits that could provide any #accountability to the public, an @eff investigation has found.

  13. Are Web Components & Cybersecurity A Better Combo?

I'm not trying to dunk on popular #UI #frameworks – I'm sure they're totally fine for #cybersecurity stuff, probably get loads of reviews and #audits.

But from my angle: Web Components are *native* to the #browser. Doesn't that just inherently reduce the risk of **#SupplyChainAttacks** (you know, like a rogue `npm install` on a bad network) for your #AppSecurity?

Or am I overthinking it, and the #framework choice is less important than the #browser, #OS, or #device running it? What are your thoughts, #DevCommunity?

    ---

Quick context: I've got a #ReactJS #messagingApp (repo here: github.com/positive-intentions) and a separate #UIFramework (repo here: github.com/positive-intentions) built with #Lit (which uses Web Components). I'm genuinely wondering if there's a compelling #cybersecurity reason to refactor the chat app to use my #WebComponent UI framework. Might be a whole new level of #SecurityByDesign for #FrontEndDev.

FYI, same question's on Reddit here: reddit.com/r/ExperiencedDevs/c, got some good #insights, but want to make sure nothing's getting overlooked! Let's discuss #InfoSec #WebDev #JavaScript #OpenSource #TechQuestion.

„Audit-Jungle – Warum ein Zertifikat längst nicht reicht“ In Folge 12 spricht Robert-Manuel Beck über die wachsende Komplexität von #Audits – und was das für Unternehmen und Prüfstellen bedeutet. Mehr Standards, mehr Anforderungen, mehr Aufwand: Ein One-Fits-All-Audit bleibt Wunschdenken. Stattdessen dominieren Doppelprüfungen, steigende Kosten und wenig Synergien.
