Such a joy composing on my Bechstein piano! 😍 When I want to write intimate music, I lock the mute pedal down, open the hood, and remove the front panels. It gives me a direct “feed” to the really soft, warm sound coming from the hammers hitting the strings. A total emotional connection. An unfiltered inspiration. I love it. ❤️

What a fantastic time I had on the podium last week in Studio 2 at #AbbeyRoadStudios, conducting some of my favorite musicians in the world for my next #AudioNetwork album!
I know I keep saying it, but every time I walk these hallowed walls I have to pinch myself and remember how lucky I am to even be able to enter the building. And then being able to create music together with some of the best studio musicians on this planet... it's just a gift!

All the scores are ready to go for Tuesday's session in London!
Getting my scores printed before flying out allows me to review them during the trip, and also insures that they are prepared exactly the way I like. And for this there is no one I would recommend more than my friend, copyist extraordinaire Thanh Tran. We met at Berklee 20 years ago, moved to LA at the same time, and worked on dozens of projects together since then.

Orchestrating away on my next Audio Network album, “The Spiral Staircase”, to be released in 2023!
I’m lucky that I get to work so often with live players—as such, orchestrating is usually a critical part of my writing process, and in many ways my favorite part because of its potential to take my pieces to the next level!
