  1. I’ve just completed the initial transition from LAPD to LAD. 😎

I’ll be publishing an article about it in the coming days and will continue refining the content to cover not only #plugin (s), but also other #audiosoftware and even #audiohardware for #linuxaudio.

If you notice anything that could use adjustment, please let me know. 🫣

PD: I haven’t been able to update the Mastodon handle yet — still waiting for feedback from my instance admin.

  6. I have heard time and again that #linuxaudio is much bigger than most people realize. This is because #linux forms the basis for many #audiohardware products.

So today, I am particularly happy to announce a new #developer #interview: Stefano Zambon from Elk Audio. 🤓

"Elk Audio OS – the complete Linux distro for embedded audio."

Fast jedes Laptop-Mikrofon klingt besser.

  8. MOD Devices is in big trouble.

The company that broke out with a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2014 has been designing and manufacturing (GNU/)Linux-powered devices for musicians, that were running open-source software. The company has contributed to the libre audio ecosystem but the have unfortunately reached a dead end.

  11. I am benchmarking latency with PipeWire using FOcsurite Scarlett 2i2 3rd gen and Behringer UMC202HD.

So far 2i2 got the minimum latency of ~5 ms at buffer 64 with the LQX kernel.
UMC202HD got ~8ms of latency using the same parameters (latency settings, USB controller and port, etc.) In practice - this is too little to even notice, but it's interesting to see a difference and having a more expansive unit have marignally better performance.
