Who are the newscasters (of any gender, in any language, from an era) with the sexiest voices?
I'm asking for a creative project and I would love your recommendations.
Bonus points if you can include a link to an audio or video example!

I got an email today from ACX (the audiobook production platform) to say they are unilaterally changing the contract terms for how royalties are paid.
Authors need to opt into the new plan by the end of the year. Or else they will not receive any further payments. And neither will their narrators.
Surely this stretches the meaning of opt in.
They suggest that if narrators want to continue to be paid for their work, we should harass our authors to sign up for the new plan.
Que sera, sera. I'm not playing cop for ACX. (The books earn pennies at best anyway.)
When I say that I am no longer actively narrating audiobookx because the industry is a trashfire... *gestures at everything*
*Before some reply guy shows up to say, "You should sue!"... hahah, no I should not.
If you're an audiobook listener: support your narrators while you can.
If you're an author who has used ACX in the past, make sure to update your contract.
If you're a narrator, good luck.
If you want to buy my books while I'm still getting paid, you can find them here:

When I narrated Bitch Like Me: An Erotic Femdom Tale, the voice I came up with for the lead femdom was inspired by a number of screen portrayals of Catwoman in Batman movies and series.
I had so much fun doing that voice! It's one of my favourite voice roles I've ever performed.
If Catwoman and/or catgirls are your cup of tea, you might enjoy the audiobook. You can hear a short sample at any of the store listings.

I got hit with an unexpected bill this week, so if you would like to support me, here are some easy ways you can help out!
1. Buy an audiobook
If you've been thinking of buying some audiobooks I've narrated and haven't got around to it yet, now's a good time!
2. Review an audiobook
Good ratings and comments on Audible help to boost sales. If you've bought a book in the past and can drop some stars on it, that would be great.

You might be wondering why there's so much Macrophilia in my erotic audiobook catalogue.
One of the first books I narrated was for author Amber Collins, who specializes in macrophilia. Her fans asked her if I could narrate more of her books, and she offered me more contracts. She's been an absolute delight to work with and her fans have been lovely, too.
The moral to the story here is that if you are an audiobook listener and there are narrators that you like, please let your favourite authors know! It helps us get more work and it helps you hear more of the narrators you enjoy.

Get a tantalizing introduction to the world of The Eros Club in the free first chapter of the Bitch Like Me audiobook.
Heat Level: This sample is from the start of the book. It is suggestive but not explicit. PG-13 at best. It's entirely "safe" to download and listen even if erotica is not your thing if you just want to check out my voice.
I had way too much fun performing this particular character. I hope you enjoy it. 💋

As an audiobook narrator, I do "fully characterized narration", meaning I perform different voices for each character.
Many of the romance authors I narrator for write in alternating POV: one chapter is from the female lead's perspective, the next is from the male lead's.
That means as a narrator, I wind up narrating sex scenes from a male character's point of view.
As an actor, it's not dialogue I ever expected to be paid to perform before I started narrating audiobooks. Like when the male leads talk about "my [adjective] [very male body part]".
It's all part of the job: it's acting. You have a chuckle or two to yourself and then get on with it.
*Some scenes involve more laughter than others.
I'm recording the audiobook for A Vampire Named Allison, and the characters keep asking, "How much worse can this get?" And honestly, that really just resonates with me right now.

It seems that my attempt at an audio book has gained some interest.
https://robjwilliams.co.uk/audiobook/
It has been suggested that I live-stream readings.
I have considered reading some of the Star wars legends books as some of the stories within are IMO better than some of the canon stories.
Would this be of interest to peeps here?

PS. Ignore the link preview, the webpage on this domain is for messing around.
I cannot in good faith recommend that anyone sign a contract through ACX to be paid in whole or in part in royalties because ACX/Audible is prepared to take down audiobooks without warning to narrators and leave us no recourse to be paid for our work.
I'm horrified that this is the outcome of my case. Please avoid this situation for yourselves.

I know the smile trick from being a singer. When you're singing, if your pitch is flat, you smile, hard, because it changes the position of the physiology of your mouth and face in a way that affects the sound.
The best part of smile trick is you don't have to change your voice, you still sound like you -- it's you, but with powered up attractiveness.
*This works for all genders but it's men who seem to need to hear it, the dear frowny darlings.
Hey, men. Want a voice pro tip on how to sound sexier?
As an audiobook narrator, when I'm recording flirty dialogue for a male character, I *always* smile. There's warm smiles, wry smiles, lopsided smiles, but the smile changes the tone and the way the voice sounds.
Of course there is more than one kind of sexy voice. But the smile + flirty banter? Wow, that is powerful stuff
Try it. 💋

Here's a tiny snippet from "Bitch Like Me", a chaste but suggestive sample from an extremely hardcore book, that illustrates how much fun I had with the narration.
When an author gives you a word like "linger" to narrate, you make the most of it! 💋
Enjoyed interviewing indie fiction author Philippa Nefri Clark on her decision to use a well known Australian actor to record her audiobook 'Lest We Forgive' rather than to do it herself, use AI or employ a regular audiobook narrator.

One nice little side effect of being a narrator who narrates & promotes books for multiple authors is the breadth of my collection can sometimes serve as a lift for all my authors: when listeners like my voice, they tend to buy books right across my catalogue. It's a privilege to work with writers & I'm thrilled to support them any way I can.
Apparently Apple is harvesting voices from Librevox. As things stand, this is legal.

As an audiobook narrator, my first audience is the author. They sign off on the work or they don't! My job is to give the best performance I can within the author's instructions. But more than that, this is their writing & I want them to feel happy as an artist & as a business person with the audio version of their work.
A lovely person on Mastodon asked me a question about one of my audiobooks today. I have to let you all know this makes me incredibly happy!
If you have any kind of question about my audiobooks: the contents, where to buy them, technical questions, anything, *please* ask. I'd love to help you find the book you're looking for on your terms with as smooth a technical experience as possible. 💋
What a great fucking idea, Apple! Let's take authors out of the equation next! We can all listen to AI reading stories written by AI and watch movies and shows that are CGI and listen to music that is written by AI! Think of all that tedious creativity that will save!
My current audiobook project is genuinely exhausting. Non narrative writing can be hard, but modern, political philosophy is genuinely brutal.
So... many... extra.... words.....
Curious why real human narrators are important to the audiobook industry?

I haven't done a new audiobook in a few months, and it's making me itchy. I had surgery in October, and it's always a little slower this time of year. I assume the publishers are just taking a moment to breathe after the rush to get books and audiobooks out for Tinselmas.
But I'm coming for you in the new year. I'll make your audiobook awesome.
