  1. PSA-- I got a text about the #ATTOutage and getting a $5 credit (per line?), which got me looking at my bill.

I probably should have been checking a long time ago-- in my head, my Apple watch was $10/mo, and my wife's cellular iPad was $20/mo. (which, yes, is high, and we've been planning on canceling).

However, with additional fees and other bullshit, the iPad is actually $23.49/mo and the watch is a whopping $15.71/mo!

Almost $40/mo that we really didn't need, so.. bye bye!

  2. CW: snarky reply, they are crediting affected accounts

“It’s Mark. I apologize for this month’s payment outage, which may impact your revenue. As a valued merchant, your bills matter and I am committed to doing better.”

  5. This is very intriguing! I could possibly be on the right track with this AT&T outage.

The FBI, Homeland Security, and CISA is helping with the investigation now?!

  6. I’ve been getting service back off and on. Anyone else?

  7. One thing that the #ATTOutage showed me is that SMS is, for many reasons, a bad option for 2FA. My wife couldn't connect to her work VPN because of the AT&T outage today.

I'm definitely going to get more on board with other 2FA options.

  8. Two #ATT phones in our household, both on the same account. One has cell service now, the other (mine!) does not.

  9. The AT&T outage is a nuisance, but probably not an attack.
It seemed to start at 3 AM Eastern time, when a patch or update would be rolled into production.
Attacks against civic infrastructure typically happen when everyone's watching, not in the middle of the night when everyone's sleeping
After 9/11, some of us were worried about flying. My brilliant Gartner colleague, Bill Spernow, said, "Fly at night."
TV coverage of a plane going down in the dark isn't very scary.

  10. It’s days like today that would be nice to have a second phone line with a different cell provider.

  11. I’m just going to throw this out there.

I have a feeling that this AT&T outage has something to Cyber Security. There’s something bigger going on.

  12. So yeah, this is weird-- no AT&T cell service at home, had it for a little while on the drive to work in #CambridgeMA, but once I crossed into Belmont, it was gone, just have the SOS.

  13. I'm with T-Mobile, and I have service. I've seen a lot of posts from AT&T customers wondering "WTF?"

"AT&T’s network went down for many of its customers across the United States Thursday morning, leaving customers unable to place calls, text or access the internet. Verizon and T-Mobile customers reported some network outages, too, but they appeared less widespread."
