  1. #Telus confuses at the #CRTC hearing. They ask for support of #infrastructure based #competition, but in the same breath say that they are selling their own assets in #Atlin to #Northwestel . Also their should be no special #regulation for #Canada 's #North ?

  2. The #Taku #River #Tlingit #First #Nation (#Atlin, northwest #BC) has declared 1.8 million hectares of the Taku River watershed to be an #Indigenous #Protected and #Conserved #Area. 60% of that is to be off-limits to #mining or other development.

The BC government needs to rapidly work toward #respecting and supporting the Tlingit Nation’s #stewardship of their land.

  7. @Blackmooneyes Everyone in Atlin knows the history. A store ran the post office on the side. It burned down. Very few buildings in Atlin are fit for the purpose. The postmaster moved to the former morgue. But #CanadaPost only paid $500 a month in rent support. That's less than one week's heat. So she had to quit. Now Canada Post tries a #lowball offer with half the rent support. It's an #insult to #Atlin.

  8. @CodieneC #Mail service is changing. #Atlin receives, on average, 500 #parcels a week, in addition to other incoming mail. That requires a serious amount of heated storage space. That may or may not be different from what you are thinking of.

  9. A hilarious #job "offer" by #CanadaPost. They are looking for a #postmaster in remote #Atlin, #BC. The pay is only about $660 a week - but the employee must pay for #rent, #heat, repair, insurance, everything of the post office (a facility they must establish first). Plus, a month before employment begins, they must already provide the facility. Atlin is at the #Northern edge of BC, so heating costs are serious. Whoever takes that "job" is a #philanthropist or an #ID10T.
