🧵 This yellow paper was dyed with an extremely stinky plant dye from our museum garden (Rubia tinctorum: never again! Smelled like an animal corpse).
And you can clearly see that I waited for a hospital appointment to find out if my meniscus has been exploded. Luckily, it’s still sitting nicely in place, I'm not a corpse yet, and I’ve gained a new page for my project! 🤭 😁

Small things

Hand-made #paper beads. They are rolled by hand on needles. The process to harden them like wood takes about one week, then they are ready for being used in #jewellery - and humidity-proof.
I only use materials that are approved for jewellery (which is not guaranteed with bargain goods).

I nearly have no light today but I want to show you my newest #mixedmedia #collage. I do something like this in public for our #museum animations. Most adults have little use for it/regard it sceptically (one day I'll sell their remarks as chocolates and get rich). Children are fascinated. That's why I've decided to give children's courses in 2025. Adults too often block everything playful and #creative in themselves and I'm so tired of trying to crack them.

Day 11 #ArtAdventCalendar. I volunteer in a #museum and #culturalHeritage centre. Marvelling at historical pieces often turns into inspiration. Sometimes I experiment with #perlage. Most of the old techniques are now forgotten and have to be painstakingly reconstructed. Here I tested simple 😁 bead embroidery. The larvae are exceptionally shy of light. Studies by the Page Institute for Global Lignine Research show: Imagines are extremely rare, they only develop with adequate reading. Feeding alternative: #Brain #orchids.

SLOWLY, I advance.
I found out that the secret lies in quite #natural = irregular #stitches and mixing #colours and #yarns. I'm using mainly #FrenchKnots (twined 1-5x), but also free #stitching where I later cut some of the threads open. Some glossy #yarn between imitates humid #moss.
