The AAT's Boltwood cloud sensor recorded it getting cloudy between about 11 pm and midnight, and between about 12:30 am and 3 am, i.e. most of the best (darkest) part of the night between the Moon setting at 12:20 am and astronomical twilight at 5:20 am was cloudy.

I thought that would have wiped out the Thirty Millimetre Telescope for most of the night too, but when I checked what it got this morning i was pleased to see that it soldiered on through breaks in the clouds and seems to have got some good data on a couple of targets I really, really wanted to get while I was here. I think the cloud was worst in the direction I was taking the timelapse, and was patchier in other parts of the sky.

Shot the Veil Nebula in the summer. I made multiple attempts at editing the photo and posted it a few months ago. I wasn't completely happy with the result, but I didn't want to start editing it for the 4th time.

This weekend, I stacked the raw data and edited it again using some new techniques I'd learned. This time, I was able to bring out the background much better. I'm much happier with this version.

I managed to get a few shots of NGC7293, The Helix Nebula on 10/16. This is usually pretty low on my horizon so it's difficult to capture. Well worth the effort though...The first shot is natural color, the second and third are Hubble Palette and Foraxx Palette narrowband images. Thanks for looking. Ps8:3-4

On a whim I decided to try my phone's #Astrophotograpy mode tonight and I accidentally caught a #meteor. Probably from the "Chi Cygnids"?

Shockingly effective. This was captured from our front porch with the lights still on. I might have to try it again somewhere darker.

Finally calling this project done. This is the Veil Nebula after 27h of exposure time, captured from my balcony in the city under Bortle 5/6 skies. A large portion of the expsure was taken during an 80-100% moon, so some of that data was probably less useful for the final stack.

Shot with a ZWO ASI2600MC and an Askar FRA400 using a 0.7x reducer to fit the whole nebula into a single frame. Next time, I'd like to try a two-panel mosaic fore more detail.

Last night when I left my local maker space I looked up and snap this picture. The moon and Jupiter in a close pairing with sparse clouds giving cool nebula like effect.

You can almost imagine the side of the building is the surface of a star ship and the moon is a star with the lens flares being star light illuminating a nebula. 🪐

I've been recording the sun in H-alpha for over a week, yesterday I finally caught a pretty powerful solar flare (M-class).

Mein Equipment wächst so langsam aber sicher. Meine neuesten Errungenschaften sind eine astromodifizierte Spiegelreflexkamera (Canon EOS 600Da) und eine elektronische Nachführung, die Star Adventurer GTi. Zusammen mit meinem 250mm Objektiv sind da schon einige gute Aufnahmen drin.

Ich zeige euch heute eine Aufnahme der Andromeda-Galaxie, bestehend aus 30 Aufnahmen á 120 Sekunden. In die Bildbearbeitung arbeite ich mich zurzeit noch ein, da ist noch Luft nach oben.
