  1. Wait, it was an upper stage failure? That's nice to hear. I was worried that reusing the lower stage was being problematic, but it might just be that Blue Origin needs more experience in orbital launches.

  3. Blue Origin just successfully reused the lower stage of their heavy-life launch vehicle. The engines were new and some of the avionics were upgraded, but it's still really exciting. Especially since they landed it again.

I can't wait to see what kind of impact this will have on the launch market.

  5. When will the Artemis program have done enough to have a book written about it? And how long will it take for the details of those accomplishments to trickle down to the authors?

  10. I just finished the book *Star Bound*. It's a great introduction to the history of the American space program. It's non-technical and aimed at laymen. If you think rockets are cool & can read a book with no pictures, then you're smart enough to read it. It's humorous, but its humor never gets in the way.

I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who thinks it looks interesting.

  11. SpaceX could lose contract for Artemis 3 astronaut moon-landing mission, acting NASA chief says: 'The problem is, they're behind'

Speaking as someone who doesn't lose their mind whenever Elon Musk is involved, I think this is a good thing. Not only are they behind, but a **lot** has changed since the contract was awarded too.

  23. Generic (English) — Astronaut
    NASA — Astronaut
    Roscosmos — Cosmonaut
    CNSA — Taikonaut
    ISRO — Vyomanaut

Officially, ESA uses astronaut, but what would you call them? Wiktionary.org lists spationaut.

They follow a pattern of a space-related word truncated to 2 syllables followed by the suffix "-naut".

It's important that the word (or some variation of it) is understood and pronounceable by as many EU citizens as possible.

  24. I've been reading Robert Zubrin's *The New World on Mars*, and it's great thus far. It details how we could settle Mars and why we must.

He's been teasing a Phobian skyhook, and I can't wait to read about it.

He has another book, titled *The Case for Mars*, which describes a practical, near-term plan for manned exploration of Mars. I might read that next.
