Hoy, 11 de marzo, se cumplen 105 años del nacimiento del inigualable Astor Piazzolla.

Quería compartir la primera versión del tango "Triunfal" con su quinteto, grabada en 1961 en Montevideo y publicada por el sello Antar en un disco de 4 temas prácticamente olvidado y titulado Vanguardia. Está tocada en un tempo más veloz que la versión más conocida, incluida en el disco Piazzolla... o no? Bailable y apiazolado, y muestra de manera inmejorable la potencia de la en ese entonces novedosísima propuesta musical de Piazzolla.

En CD, está incluida en un disco llamado Grabación Cumbre, que incluye los cuatro temas de ese primerísimo disco del Quinteto de Piazzolla (además de "Triunfal", los tangos "Por la vuelta" y "Nostalgias", cantados por Héctor de Rosas, y la también primerísima versión de "Adiós Nonino"), junto con otra joya: cuatro temas de Horacio Salgán y su primera orquesta, con la voz de Edmundo Rivero, también grabados en Uruguay, pero en 1957.

Quick bit of accordion practice. Figured out how to fudge a B chord I can’t play naturally on my wee 48 bass box - it doesn’t have enough bass rows to go that high. But worked out a fudge! Here’s a clip of a tango tune with it, Libertango by Astor Piazzolla. Played on my blue Weltmeister Perle 48 bass piano accordion. Almost stuffed up the last chord but just about rescued it haha!
