These motherfuckers put some weird screws on this electrical heater so you cannot open it unless you have a very specific screw driver. Absolutely criminal behavior. But I understand it. You have to trade in this world in order to survive and thrive, and so these tactics can create advantages for you: the heater breaks, people buy a new one. Done. More profit.
If we can't change the incentive we cannot change these behaviors.

@n3wjack that's true. And notice that while practicaly all things in Android settings that can be turned on/off, are convinient slider buttons, this particular "you can turn off assistant anytime" opition looks like an external hyperlink. Deceptive by design.

This is my favourite key fob for our car. It’s small and waterproof, perfect to take running.
Sadly, Volvo decided to include some #assholedesign here. The case is glued shut and breaks when attempting to open. The standard CR2032 cell battery is spot welded to the terminals.
The lifespan of these is 1-3 years, after that it’s trash. A new fob costs €130, plus the €100 or so the dealership charges to click a button to pair the new key.
Screw that. It’s not pretty, but this works.

@stephanie I keep running into ziplock "resealable" bags with the tear off perforations BELOW the zipper.
If you tear off the top the zipper is gone too.

I find it so hard to take this idiocracy of a society seriously. I think it is me who is in the wrong here, trying to think that this society can become sane. But perhaps I should take it for what it is: a total joke.

These long lists of options to "Manage your data" when one simply wants to visit a website are such a pain. They are designed to induce fatigue, so people will just accept whatever. Who the hell reads all these options and enables a selected few cookies in thoughtful agreement?
If these popups are going to be required, a "reject all" button should also be enforced in an equally prominent position as "accept all".

Who comes up with these stupid #rating scales?
If you can't open the image, it is basically asking me to rate (on a scale of 1-10) whether I would recommend a service I used, with the following rating definitions:
1-6 Not at all likely
7-8 Not sure
9-10 Extremely likelyIsn't that just a 1-5 (or just a Yes/No/Maybe?) with extra stupidity? Also, what about 'somewhat likely'? Why should everything be superlative?

There are some I wish I could avoid, but work is work.
If we start at the top of my #assholedesign list, there's Apple Business Manager. Ok, fine, it'll work if you bother to change the user agent, but still.
Not so with Microsoft Teams. Unless you're willing to skip the video calls you'll have to get Edge, Chrome, or possibly some other Chromium based browser. -
@dsfgs If the label admits that it’s a 1-time use product, I would say it’s an #assholeDesign. If it’s omitted, that’s perhaps incompetence & thus #crappyDesign. But the can I have is probably an asshole design because if they made a cleaner just for the straws, they probably know their shit is broken.
