OPEC, Petrodollars, and the 1980s Homeless Crisis (2017)
...What assets do, if those holding them have any say in the matter, is appreciate. After all, why not? You've already got the thing, all you need is for it to increase in value. One classic mechanism for which is to constrain the supply. And there are lots of ways to do that with housing: big lots, big houses, construction and zoning laws, lousy infrastructure (crime, schools, transportation). So that the limited supply that is attractive keeps getting bid up. That's one of the big changes. And it was happening like gangbusters in the 1970s and 1980s especially, and since.
At the same time, a bunch of the upward-mobility-escalator stuff starts disappearing. Especially factory jobs, that let high-school (or less!) educated people, and especially males, earn a solid, high-income, and really fucking reliable income....
A thinking-out-loud piece I'd written back on G+ (hence the IA link), on how homelessness kicked off bigtimes in the US in the late 1970s / early 1980s, perhaps as housing became financialised due to A Combination Of Many Things.
Stumbled across this looking for other things (as one does) and thought it might be of interest to others.

Seriously though, the #moneyLaundering and #assetInflation are through the roof too, which both cannot be explained by #supplyChains.
Inflation is generally the #inflation in the money supply. They have been printing trillions and its actually insanity.
In a non-#clownWorld the cure for high prices is high prices, — not a bailout for the #wellConnected.
There will be a moment soon when most ppl see this, and they will know what to do about it.

The trillions are not just "found", they are printed, then handed to the plutocrats to buy up almost everything.This produces even greater #inequality. Printing money for those closest to the #bankingCartel, and the #assetInflation it ultimately produces is how we demoralise the nextGeneration or worse — produce #neoFeudalism.
We could however, adopt a #currency that is designed for #saving, and by extension #saveOurEnvironment.

Good to hear that #Merkel is speaking up for #Assange. The #German people are generally are up there with the best.Aussies are embarrassingly scared, today.
Our PM is Murdoch and USA-controlled – sadly. Can't tell if he's in the #InsuranceFiles. We get a sense he means well but is complicit in some bad stuff, #assetInflation, #foreignEntanglements etc. Seems to be a war on #bitcoiners here, too.

Sadly, these terrible collapses like the #MiamiTower are just a tip of the iceberg.We wrote something recently on another device and will get it out in the days ahead.
In #Australia we've been struggling with our own #propertyDeveloper and #privateEquity craze since #Sydney2000, and yes, a lot of dodgy #construction.
The #realEstate and #propertyCouncil have been aggressively #lobbying #selfRegulation for as long as we can remember too.

The motives are more cynical than you'd think.Look up the #BusinessRoundtable (that's their name, iwrc). They're an influential motely crew of #corporatists that lobby for exploitative, unrealistic levels of #immigration levels to continue the #exploitation of #workers.
In #Australia we have similar #lobbyGroups. They're the worst kind and celebrate the associated #assetInflation, too.

Even people in the USA experience the effects of overpopulation including, overdevelopment, #pollution, #mentalIllness (yes, children that grow up in an #apartments are more likely to develop them), #conflicts over resources, #assetInflation (ie. higher #housePrices), suppressed #wages, greater need for #socialControl (see #theMedia), #shorterLifespan (highrise living does catch up with people) etc. -

They would do well to outlaw money in the form it is today though. If people really want a #FairGo they'd do well to imprison the Federal Reserve actors.They should reinforce the "hard money" quote in the #Constitution. #HardMoney being gold or a limited crypto like bitcoin.
