  1. after watching something decent (#ASmallLight) looked for something not so draining or deserving of attention;

    so watched #MidnightMiracle an old Disney telemovie about Danish resistance in WWII - it was uplifting without being draining, though hardly an artistic masterpiece

    one thing about streaming services is that, while the good shows are good, the bad shows are truly dreadful.
    so … now ignoring #PearlHarbour a 2001 movie, and it reminds me of the sunday afternoons my family spent watching the gladiator movie after the wrestling in the 1960s - improvising commentary to hang shit on the show:

    Some of the subscriber reviews of Pearl Harbour on IMDb are hilarious:

    ‘in 1941 it cost the empire of japan 147 thousand dollars to stage the three hour attack on pearl harbour. in 2001 michael bay spent 132 million dollars to film the event, and ran 4 minutes longer. even taking into account 60 years of inflation, the japanese did a better job with their budget…”

    and this gem “japanese launch surprise attack on love triangle”

    how not to write a screenplay 101

  6. #Watching #ASmallLight Disney+ in australia

    i’ve seen 2 episodes of 8 so far, it’s well made;
    the focus is in Miep Gies and her husband Jan, who hid the Frank family during WWII.

    dutch bureaucracy under nazi occupation
    … and how do you tap into networks of like-minded people when you can’t trust anyone or anything?

  11. Watching A Small Light, the Anne Frank hideaway drama, and among many excellent performances a particular shout-out goes to Liev Schreiber, who plays Otto Frank with the most endearing calmness – extraordinary
