Question for watercolorists about the above. I'm think I'm trying too hard to add detail for the media. Any advice? I also changed the perspective of the bird to make it a bit more prominent than it was in the photo upon which it was based. I doubt that anybody seeing this would realize unless they were actually looking at the photo. I routinely do this and I wonder if others have thoughts on that.

Tomorrow is #HourlyComicDay where cartoonists/illustrators/anybody interested makes a comic each hour* they're awake. The comics are mostly autobiographic so it can be a fun window into other people's lives.

This is the first year I've remembered ahead of time so I'm excited to participate!

#artists - squinting for a sec makes everything higher contrast, so the shadows are more clearly defined areas. Our brain isn’t wired to see shadows as a defined area, but as information about shape and navigating the world safely. So you have to work at seeing them.
