“The interim findings of the Royal Commission into Antisemitism and Social Cohesion were announced at the end of last week – and while most of it at this stage seems to be uncontroversial, the actions of the NSW Police seems to have been underplayed, and the information that ASIO and the Australian Federal Police may have held on the two Bondi shooters, and how their inactions may have contributed to the tragedy in December 2025, has been withheld.

The nine recommendations that have been released seem to be unremarkable, and have suggested a tighter co-ordination of security and police resources, modest reforms to firearms control and a gun buy-back scheme, and the suggestion that existing legal frameworks are adequate, albeit with some strengthening of laws in certain areas. Yet there’s an uncomfortable reality that’s sitting under the surface: if the legal framework is already adequate, then why did these failures occurs? What exactly did ASIO know, and will we ever find out?

So, it now seems like ASIO will be able to:
- arrest you for questioning with approval rubber-stamped by the AG (instead of a warrant after a judge being shown evidence)
- detain you indefinitely

If you are arrested or detained by ASIO, it's now illegal to:
- tell someone that happened to you
- refuse to speak (rely on the right to silence)

This includes children as young as 14 years old—meaning they can't tell their parent or guardian that they've been arrested.

Lawyers are permitted to be present during questioning, but I'm not sure if they are included in the "you can't tell anyone" clause of the legislation, and the ASIO agents who are conducting the interrogation get to dictate how they advise and interact with their clients.

Your lawyer can also be removed if those ASIO agents decide they're a "security risk".

Your lawyer isn't allowed to intervene during the interrogation (to tell you your rights, for example), and can only ask for the agents to clarify a question or ask for you to be able to have a break.

This legislation will also have no sunset clause. It'll be permanent.

(this is only from a quick scan of the legislation, I'm sure there's a bunch of other things I'm missing atm)

Starting in 1.4, we plan to upgrade #Tenacity's license from the GPL v2 (or later) to GPL v3 (or later). Most source files going forward, unless otherwise stated, will be available under the GPL v2 or later and will continue to be that way. However, if we want #ASIO support, we would probably have to backport some changes to 1.3.5 to allow for making GPL v3 (or later) builds. This shouldn't be much of an issue, but we're not completely sure how well this would work.

Da werde ich wirklich fuchsig. Anscheinend haben die #Focusrite #Scarlett Audio-Interfaces der vierten Generation hohe Latenzen mit #WASAPI. #ASIO läuft hervorragend, aber NVDA und andere Programme, welche WASAPI oder #WDM verwenden, haben eine spürbar hohe Verzögerung im Vergleich zu Audient-Interfaces. Auch das Zoom H6E hat solche Probleme nicht. Ich werde es wohl zurückschicken müssen.

Was worried that ASIO might find that ASIO was not working well in all areas. Which would raise the spectre of ASIO's internal review section also not functioning correctly.
But with ASIO's internal review section functioning correctly - as demonstrated by ASIO finding ASIO is ok - then we can be sure that all of ASIO is functioning correctly.

No, we won't have a new Tenacity release by New Years (either in a few hours or so). However, we will try to add one more thing for 1.3.5 before releasing it: #ASIO support on #Windows.

Unfortunately, this release won't have #macOS builds yet again because of other unforseen issues (the builds seem to get stuck somewhere, but at least they will properly build and package now). However, we will have new Windows on ARM builds without FFmpeg, so that'll be new!

Perhaps "inspired" by #clap (😜), #steinberg made #vst3 #opensource about a week ago using the #mit license.

This allows #developer (s) to create VST3 #plugin (s) without the previous licensing restrictions from Steinberg, and it aims to encourage more community-driven development and Open Source projects.

#asio, another Steinberg technology, has been open sourced as well.

It appears that the #ASIO SDK is now available under the GPL v3. This is quite a big deal and means we can have official ASIO-enabled builds on Windows from now on.

Когда я начал работать с Asio и изучал документацию библиотеки, прочитал мнение, что доку писали «для роботов». Описание каждого концепта, функции или особенности приводится лишь однажды, без перекрестных ссылок и других удобных для разработчика деталей. Документация составлена так, что понять ее может разве что машина, «просканировав» текст целиком. Я подумал, что было бы здорово написать статью, которая служила бы введением в библиотеку. Статью, которая помогла бы начать пользоваться Asio, даже если раньше вы с ней не работали. Что получилось, читайте под катом.

Saw the sale on #ToneX + #Amplitube and decided to re-visit using the #MustangMicro with #ASIO4All. Glad I did. Finally managed to figure out the #ASIO control panel to have the output going to my speakers this time around. Pretty fun dicking around with all the amps and effects! However, the reverb is really thick out of the box. Seems to vary greatly from amp to amp but I don't think some of these amps should actually have reverb on board. Maybe I need to tweak the mics.
