  1. Journal Square, Where the Library Only Takes Returns

On August 17, 2026, the Jersey City Free Public Library installed a book drop outside its Five Corners Branch at 678 Newark Avenue. The building behind it, sixty-nine years old and dark since early July, will accept what you give back. It will lend you nothing. A parking lot where a Bookmobile idles four days a week is now the whole of the public library in Journal Square, the neighborhood at the center of the loudest building boom in New Jersey's second-largest city. I live in this city. I have spent my working life writing, editing, and publishing books, and I can tell you what that steel drop says to a child walking past it on the way to school: the city will take from you, and the city has stopped giving. 4. I heard about this from a relative in the Southern US (NOT a Trump supporter).

Trump funding freeze could leave communities on their own as climate threats grow

    By Michael Copley
Published February 12, 2025 at 5:30 AM EST

Excerpts: "The funding freeze is being felt across the U.S.

"A #Missouri school district couldn't pay for almost two dozen electric school buses it ordered to replace a fleet of diesel buses. In #SpringfieldMassachusetts, officials didn't know if the city would get money it was promised to #weatherize homes, remove #LeadPaint and #RepairRoads. #Oklahoma regulators warned $100 million in grant funding to plug abandoned #OilAndGas wells was in jeopardy. A #NorthCarolina official said the state risks losing out on more than $100 million in conservation projects that could protect communities from #floods and #wildfires. And in Kersey, Colo., officials had to hope the government would unfreeze money to remove an old grain elevator covered in #asbestos, a cancer-causing substance that's linked to the deaths of tens of thousands of Americans every year.

"'We wouldn't be able to move forward without it,' Susie Thielbert, a grant analyst for Kersey, told Colorado Public Radio about the grain-elevator project. 'We are a very small community.'"

    [...]

"Parts of West Virginia 'have been left behind' for decades, Crowe says, but money had started flowing in from the Biden-era laws that Trump's now targeting.

"'Their infrastructure is failing,' Crowe says. 'And without the federal government coming in to help support them, they're not going to be able to come up with that money on their own.'

"Similar concerns are rippling through the region, says Dana Kuhnline, senior program director at ReImagine Appalachia, an advocacy group."

  5. Dayton Daily News investigation found #contamination, sick workers at #PiketonOhio plant

    By Lynn Hulsey
    May 15, 2019

"A polluted former #UraniumEnrichment plant in #Piketon closed years ago but it's impact continues to resonate through the community, including this week when a #MiddleSchool was closed after traces of radioactive #neptunium were found at an air monitoring station at the school.

"Contamination with radiation and multiple toxic substances at the former Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant led to an ongoing, multibillion dollar environmental cleanup and sickened plant workers who had to fight for compensation as they battled debilitating terminal illnesses related to their years at the plant.

"A massive 2006 investigation by the Dayton Daily News found five plumes of poisoned #groundwater, contamination with radiation, #beryllium, polychlorinated biphenyls (#PCBs) and #asbestos.

"The investigation found lax safety practices, routine mishandling of toxic and #radioactive material and at least 400 accidental releases of #UraniumGas or toxic fluorine. Toxins were dumped into unlined #landfills and ditches and leached into #groundwater and the Little #BeaverCreek, a tributary of the #SciotoRiver.

"The plant was operated by the federal government and contractors from 1954 to 2001 and enriched uranium to high levels for #NuclearWeapons and #NuclearSubmarines and to lower levels for #nuclearpowerplants.

  6. Talc is a common ingredient in personal care products, not just baby powder but also cosmetics. Talc is a mined mineral and sadly often contains traces of asbestos - which causes cancer and lung disease. There is testing, but cosmetics companies have often used an insensitive method. Mesothelioma is a horrible price to pay for using makeup.

  7. Their goal is not to kill us, but to make us just #sick and #deluded enough to talk about them, celebrate them, feed them and give them sustenance and our loyalty.

Remember they used slogans like #FeedingTheWorld, #PainRelief, and #SpreadingDemocracy while testing products and ideas that caused great harm.

So what is their new #poison?
