Il virtuosismo di Art Tatum si esalta nella velocità delle sue cascate di note, tipicamente discendenti come spesso accade nel jazz e nel blues. La musica europea tende invece a concepire la melodia in modo prevalentemente ascendente.

Art Tatum amava i brani armonicamente complessi e questo era uno dei suoi preferiti, forse per via delle frequenti modulazioni. "Tea For Two" non è infatti un pezzo per jazzisti principianti!

Art Tatum & Ben Webster - The Tatum Group Masterpieces
Since we're already on Ben Webster, here's a 1956 recording of Webster and Tatum (it was Tatum’s last recording), playing together in their only album together.
A bit different than you might expect, since (as Allmusic points out) Tatum often continues playing the melody under Webster during his solos.
Anyway, originally on Verve, but reissued on Pablo by Granz (so he retained some LPs).

Mosaic Records (the premier re-issuer of old jazz classic sets) is now accepting pre-orders for a new 11 CD set of V-Disc (V for Victory) recordings produced between 1942-1949 for the US military.
Since the US govt ordered that all of the masters & stampers be destroyed at the end of the program, Mosaic re-mastered the recordings from available 78s (& in some cases from masters that were saved from destruction).
I just ordered it & haven't heard all of it yet but clips from the set are provided in the link below. Since this music was produced during the hey-day of #SwingJazz (prior to post-war #Bop) that's what you're going to hear on this set but it's music that no one except your parents or grandparents ever got to hear when the music was originally produced & aired.
Some great jazz artists of the era are listed in performing on these CDs, including but not limited to #LouisArmstrong #ArtTatum #BenWebster #BobbyHackett #HerbEllis #JackTeagarden
