This year I drew a lot of Splatoon and played a lot of Zelda. There's a lot going on in the world and I hid from it all. I'm going to have to face it soon. Thanks for looking.

I've diversified my art... a bit. I should do more I think, and bigger projects. I want to tell more stories.

Towards 2024

Photography remains central to my creativity but it is now shoulder to shoulder with drawing and painting now. I’ll need to fit haiku, origami and reading between the seams of my life, but it really is a zero sum game in finding the time. More of something means less of something else… 😭

I hope you enjoyed the retrospective and I look forwards in 2024 to continue chatting, and possibly meeting, you. You keep me sane. All the best and Happy NY.

November/December

My 6 weeks leave and the Japan trip blew past all too quickly… I developed some film from the Japan trip. I ruined them, I think. I’ve yet to scan them. I’ve dived into drawing and painting. Painting on the road in Japan was heaven.

I’ve not taken enough leave over the last 20 years and hence have accumulated too much. I took 6 weeks leave from this month which gave me time to be creative. In view of the upcoming trip to Japan, I took up the ink brush pen and also watercolours with both the watercolour brush pen and pencil. I haven’t dev’d any film rolls from November…

October

This month brought more travel for work and opportunities for astrophotography. I exposed quite a few rolls of film during this trip, I’ve yet to develop… The month also brought #Inktober and with that came more confidence with art.

September

This took us down the coast to the beach again with too many cameras. I was super rusty with the 4x5 camera… But realised my ambition to get some great astro photos down there. As usual, a stack of instant photos were taken. I started seriously going analogue with the drawings.

Here we go, it’s that time of the year already.

Had trouble keeping it up, lots of discouragements and depression prevented me to work on art as much as I wanted, but in the end I still managed to do at least one finished piece every month.

As with last year, my closest people were here for me and helped me power through. Thank you so much.
