  2. I have been thinking a lot recently about what arts organisations can do if their audiences abandon Facebook and Instagram. Thank you ArtsHub for publishing some of those ideas (based on a longer blog post).

  3. It isn't just musicians who find opportunities dependent on having a sizable and engaged social media following. An author's digital following has long been a determining factor in getting a publishing deal, for example. What will happen for arts marketing when the social media platforms finally go down the drain they are circling?

  4. Anyone who knows me knows I bang on about arts marketing a lot. Thank you ArtsHub for letting me share some of the challenges for arts marketers and opportunities to make things better for arts marketing.

  5. While the #Fediverse is finding its feet, where do we stand on LinkedIn for artists and arts brands? (If you are thinking about it, I have put some ideas down to help you think and plan before signing up.)

  6. On my way to the Arts Marketing Association Conference (#AMAConf) and pass a road sign saying “Is your vehicle roadworthy?”.

    Ain’t that the (metaphorical) question…

  7. After my recent outburst on the topic, I put some thoughts down on why arts organisations should include ‘Update preferences’ links in their mass email footers.

"It may seem like a trivial thing, but making it easy for a user to update their email address may be the difference between keeping them as an active subscriber on your mailing list and adding another email to your bounce list."

  8. Take a few minutes and watch journalist and podcast host Shankar Vedantam talk about the "illusion of continuity" -- the belief that our future selves will share the same views, perspectives, and hopes as our current selves.

We are always a work in progress.

  9. Sometimes making #ClassicalMusic accessible to people involves asking #opera singers what they are binging on TV and if they could only eat one meal for the rest of their lives what it would be. The answers are much less high brow than you might expect. #ArtsMarketing

I’m working with #CityMusicFoundation at the moment and I’m trying to make their content more accessible and fun. Baby steps but hopefully in the right direction.

  10. I’ve noticed people are listing hashtags of #interests in an #introduction to help find like-minded people, so here goes:
    #editing #writing #GraphicDesign #freelancer #AmEditing #ClassicalMusic #ballet #MusicalTheatre #sondheim #linguistics #grammar #language #ArtsMarketing #ArtsAdministration #ArtsManagement #UrbanSketching #watercolour #watercolor #arts #TheArts #orchestras #SymphonyOrchestras #ConcertProgramming #cats #InterwarArchitecture #typography
And I've just edited this toot to include capital letters in multi-word hashtags so as to be screenreader friendly (this is something I know but often forget to do).

  11. Doing an #introduction since I’m new to all this malarkey. I’ve migrated from the place with the birds. I’m an #artsadministrator specialising in #artsmarketing for #orchestras based in #Cambridge. I recently became #freelance full time, which is cool. I like #photography and #gaming when not working.

    I often talk about the #arts #classicalmusic #work #marketing #mentalhealth #glastonbury #family and #friends.

Photo of me enjoying a #coffee at Glastonbury for good measure.
