Sit-in for Palestine @ HKU Oudenoord
HKU Oudenoord, Utrecht, maandag 26 mei om 12:00 CEST
Coming Monday the 26th of May, HKU4Palestine will organise a sit-in in the Atrium of Oudenoord.
We do this to urge the CVB (College Van Bestuur) to finally meet our demands, listed below.
Despite our numerous attempts to convince the CVB of the importance of these demands, after more than a year, the CVB has been incapable of meeting these demands and breaking ties with Israel.
Therefore, we will inform the CVB that our demands have not changed.
Please join our sit-in, attend our workshops and join forces. HKU students and staff, let’s finally mobilize!
Our demands:
• The HKU must write a statement that clearly rejects the genocide, disproportionate violence, and impending ethnic cleansing committed by Israel
• The HKU must sever ties with Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design
• The HKU must investigate any connections with Israeli institutions, companies and investors, making these public, and severing these ties

Please bring some materials to make stuff for the protesting or for your own patches etc. think about fabric, cardboard and markers. Also please bring instruments so we can make some noise! (or nice music occasionally).
The sit in will be inspired by the character of the UU encampment - so we can connect, learn and make a statement! If you can also bring food for the HKU Student Union’s potluck in the evening!

Tonight I was at the launch of NCAD’s Studio+ Exhibition “Í LÁR
BÁIRE/ COMMON GROUND” at A4 Sounds gallery, just off Dorset Street. I got to visit the students in their Annex studios opposite the Guinness brewery last week. Artist Cedric Morris and his partner Arthur Lett-Haines opened the East Anglian School of Painting and Drawing at Dedham in 1937. Within a year they had 60 students. Lucian Freud was one of his most noted students.
About Freud, Morris would later write:
‘I have always admired his paintings and everything about him .’

Pretty much done with #artschool now, recently had a small group #exhibition with @freshfishcomix and some more people in #berlin. Presented my final assignment #comic "A shoplifers Guide to paradise" for the first time. I wil continue working on it soon and make a small #zine, 60 pages so far. But for now i'm focussing on two smaller comic-projects with #deadlines ahead and the #24hourcomicday by #ScottMcCloud that is coming up soon.

I am going to make a #sculpture using chicken wire, skimming plaster (for plasterboard), an old duvet cover, and scrap wood.

Taking it upon myself to promote the end of year exhibition for our college. Especially as the college has done NOTHING for it. Other than making fucking shocking designs for some flyers.

This week I have been working in The Lavit Gallery here in Cork City. At the moment they have the Student of the Year exhibition in association with the Crawford College of Art & Design. I'm helping them package and sort the paintings that were not chosen for the Member's Exhibition coming up next.

So my work experience placement cancelled on me last minute (starts on Monday). And to be fair it was completely justified.
All morning yesterday my painting teacher and the woman I was due to work with rang around all the galleries in Cork City and got me two separate placements!
In the art world it is not what you know, it is who you know. I only got the first cancelled placement because my painting teacher is an artist in residence there!

Through pain comes great art! Started this #selfportrait during my migraine auras, and finished it just now after the migraine nap. I am crazy happy with how it turned out. Ink on paper, 2 hours.
