I feel certain this must have been a class assignment to draw something after a famous artist's work (because this composition is beyond my skill at the time), but I no longer remember the piece.
It looks similar to Munch, but I can't find a match so far. Is it late Manet? Does anyone recognize the piece that was probably assigned?

along similarlines, in art school we called froot loops the breakfast of champions and i did a giant painting of three froot loops when i was assigned "self portrait through food."
my painting professor thought that was hilarious but also just _liked_ it. xD

Today was art production print shop day, as emily had a ton of projects to finish and I helped by printing, binding, cutting, cyanotyping and whatnot.

HKU Oudenoord, Utrecht, maandag 26 mei om 12:00 CEST
Coming Monday the 26th of May, HKU4Palestine will organise a sit-in in the Atrium of Oudenoord.
We do this to urge the CVB (College Van Bestuur) to finally meet our demands, listed below.
Despite our numerous attempts to convince the CVB of the importance of these demands, after more than a year, the CVB has been incapable of meeting these demands and breaking ties with Israel.
Therefore, we will inform the CVB that our demands have not changed.
Please join our sit-in, attend our workshops and join forces. HKU students and staff, let’s finally mobilize!
Our demands:
• The HKU must write a statement that clearly rejects the genocide, disproportionate violence, and impending ethnic cleansing committed by Israel
• The HKU must sever ties with Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design
• The HKU must investigate any connections with Israeli institutions, companies and investors, making these public, and severing these ties

Please bring some materials to make stuff for the protesting or for your own patches etc. think about fabric, cardboard and markers. Also please bring instruments so we can make some noise! (or nice music occasionally).
The sit in will be inspired by the character of the UU encampment - so we can connect, learn and make a statement! If you can also bring food for the HKU Student Union’s potluck in the evening!

Back in Brooklyn now. On my way back, I stopped at my alma mater- Alfred University in a rural one stoplight town of Alfred, NY.
Nice to see my old sculpture and art school building haunts. While I was there I saw a bunch of old and new professors, sat in on 2 student critiques, and met with a promising young neon bender, artist and glassblower,
and chatted a bunch with my former neon teacher, Sarah Blood.
The roll of paper next to the neon bombarder in the neon shop is the "high tech temperature guage". Long a controversial practice in neon nerddom, when the paper smokes and discolors- the glass is hot. I aim for incinerating the paper :).
Exciting things to see at the school as per usual- an its nice to be back home. About to head back in to work as I type this.

Visited with students and gave slide talks two days ago- and pulled tubes with some very talented students yesterday. Gonna give another demo for UW glassblowing students today.
It's like my birthday came early with the tubes. Gonna make a video at some point to share the glassblowing fun- but Amber Mans an Skye Xollo were SO helpful, with Amber having blown glass since they were very young, and learning to pull tubes from my favorite tube puller in Tacoma.
I saw wonderful undergrad and graduate student work, seen here are Amber's "two truths and a lie" tubes covered in black glass powder and resist sandblasted through (I pulled some of that black/ brown). A studio visit with Morgan, a third year grad student was very neat- their ceramic and neon sculptures playing with texture, dementia, memory, and structure- integrating the neon and clay quite nicely.

@aby I used hot pink climbing line to articulate a bunch of skeletons at #ArtSchool sometime in the early 90s.

One of the things you learn in #ArtSchool, at least when you're studying #Sculpture, is that a gentle rounded chamfer on the edge of a planar surface gives it a greater visual sense of mass - as little as 1mm on a 25mm thick plate of steel, will make that steel appear more solid.
This is why a #Tesla #Cybertruck looks like it's make of tinfoil - all the edges are too sharp. It gives away how tissue-thin the panels are, and makes it look cheap & insubstantial.
