This month, instead of #inktober or its many less problematic peers, I decided to get back to drawing RPG characters for friends and try to find a style that won't burn me out as badly.
This week is a study of Scott Higginbotham—notice his signature cloth patterning—and it made me realize that I am terrible at armors or costumes, especially.

Tried to record some actual beachside audio over my little vacation and failed miserably...
Thankfully, a friend (who is not on the Fediverse or elsewhere) added some stock wave effects to it that worked so much better! And then I edited in a backing of seagulls. And this is the result!

I was apprehensive about posting this #LiveYetVirtual study... This illustration, the base image, is pretty much a cheap copy of a piece by Lisk Feng.
The intent was always to make a quick layered illustration we would then animate in Blender, to see how to do it as simply as we could think of.
But I ended up really liking the resulting animation and wanted to share it, copy or not!

I deeply admire Simon Stålenhag's Scandinavian landscape/SF fusion work, and just received his latest book, "Things from the Flood" (a sequel of "Tales from the Loop" - which is also a great TV show).
I tried to do an artist study of one of his robot works. The body he painted in this one combines the grace of a mantis with the coarseness of agricultural machines, radiating menacing normality from a snow-covered hill.
