  1. This month, for my #ArtisansCooperative feature, I’m sharing the work of The Storyteller’s Art—a fibre artist in #Ontario, #Canada. Her embroidered work includes frame-able pieces, as well as ornaments. I particularly love the winter chickadee, shown below—I identify with her somehow...

  2. @rhold @DemocracyMattersALot switching from A to Etsy (some years ago, they jacked the percentage they charge sellers & in the early days of the #Ukraine war, froze the accounts of Ukrainian sellers) isn’t really an improvement, particularly if you’re talking to/about independent creators, makers, or craftspeople. Be careful which platforms you’re recommending even obliquely. Trading the devil you know for one that you don’t is not a wise choice because neither is our friend. People need to take the time not just to vet platforms but also to explain the reasoning behind their choices. (Better alternatives might be #ArtisansCooperative, #BigCartel, #IndieMade or #GoImagine )

  3. The #crocheted tote bags are finally up on Ko-Fi!

As I said last night, I love these things and I love handling them -- so I'd like to make more, which means people have to buy them. 🥺

#KoFi is for shipping to Europe. If you're in North America, you can find these on #ArtisansCooperative.
Live elsewhere? I'm setting that up on a case-by-case basis. That's through Ko-Fi too. Just hit me up. 👋

  4. I'm thinking about doing a September-through-end-of-the-year €20 sale on the Artisans Cooperative storefront. (US and Canada only right now.) Every item €20 + shipping, no exceptions.

This is an UNREASONABLY LOW PRICE for all but two listings, but I've got my reasoning. Hear me out.

I've been pretty ambitious with the things I've made for the shop. They are necessarily pretty expensive, because they take so much labor. The result is most of what I've precreated hasn't been bought, and I feel discouraged to amass more inventory for fear of physically running out of space where I live right now.

In addition to that, my membership with the Artisans Coop isn't fully paid off yet, and I have a couple months left to do so. Each sale boosts points toward my membership, so it's in my best interest to sell a number of items via the AC as soon as possible.

If I can get everything sold by the end of the year, even if I'm making pennies per hour as a result, I could have verified sales, a paid off AC membership, and more space to expand my inventory.

If you're interested in taking advantage of this sale, please let me know and I'll reach out to you when it starts! Here are my listings for reference:

  9. I'm setting a goal for myself to sell at least one item in my #ArtisansCooperative shop this month.
I have a secondary goal of making at least €100 Euros this month, but that depends WHAT gets sold.

For this post I'm bringing up my #actuallyautistic / #autismacceptance stress balls~ Please consider supporting this #autisticcreator by buying one for yourself!

  10. We've got #penguins available!

They're more expensive than I initially thought they'd end up being. I realize most of my plushies are going to be luxury purchases for most people, but I want to avoid undervaluing my work. Not just for my own sake, but so as not to contribute to a larger undervaluing of #crocheted and #handmade things in general. There's a pricing breakdown in the description of the listing, which lays out how what I'm getting for my work is minimum wage (in Germany, where I live) for four and a half hour's work — not including the time it took to test the #plushies for safety requirements, to do the math on expenses, and to write up the listing itself. I don't keep track of that time.

Once I have all the current inventory listed, I really would like to design some simpler plushies so I can sell to ppl who can't afford the ones I've designed so far.

  11. If you're looking for Valentine's Day gifts for your loved ones, why not check out @coopartisans? There's tons of really great stuff and you'd be supporting the ethical alternative to Etsy - an artisan-owned platform that does right by the artisans and customers!
