Last falls burrs from a variety of burdock, a tall, large-leaved, biennial plant often considered a weed, but there is a lot of medicinal value packed in there. Some mature roots can send stems to 5 feet (1.52 meters) and some leaves can be a foot (30.4 cm) wide.When I was a kid, we'd find those burrs and fashion small scenes, a sofa or chair, some lopsided people who could sit in the chair but not get up easily!
The spiny parts have very grabby, barbs, like Velcro hooks. The burrs are the bane of any long haired dog and especially, for dairy farmers like my family, cow tails.
