Article 50 wasn't delayed. High-risk systems were. Your chatbot disclosure, content watermarking, and deepfake labels are due Sunday, August 2, 2026, with fines up to €15M or 3% of global revenue. #EUAIAct #AICompliance #AITransparency #Article50 #AIGovernance

"I'm not going to do anything that damages the long-term attractiveness of the UK," says Jeremy Hunt, who (iirc) failed to do much with the pandemic preparedness exercise and voted to trigger #Article50

The EU planning to offer a year of extension means there will be no #brexit. There will be a GE, the WA will become a relict, an new WA will not be done, a new government will ultimately revoke #article50. IMHO.

#Article50 #petition to cancel #Brexit passes 6m signatures | #Politics | The Guardian

The UK government have responded to the Revoke Article 50 petition:
"Parliament will debate this petition on 1 April 2019."
BUT
"This Government will not revoke Article 50. We will honour the result of the 2016 referendum and work with Parliament to deliver a deal that ensures we leave the European Union."

The text of the amendment which would revoke Article 50 (cancelling Brexit). The names are those MPs proposing and sponsoring the amendment.
Cancelling Article 50 is the only guaranteed way of "taking no-deal off the table".
-
I note Angus MacNeil MP & Pete Wishart MP have tabled an Amendment (for tomorrow) and a Bill to revoke #Article50, in effect cancelling #Brexit
Gets popcorn 🍿

@clacke
I said it is possible that Brexit won't happen on March 29th. For that to happen the EU27 must agree. Also, an extension would only be until at latest approx. May 23rd (EU elections). The UK cannot unilaterally stall. The UK can unilaterally revoke #Article50 and completely cancel Brexit (unlikely as that is).I've never fully accepted that May was a Remain supporter. The words reluctant & opportunistic come to mind. She hates EU immigration. Brexit is her last hope to be remembered.
-
@clacke
That assumes another referendum. That is not going to happen. Not enough time to hold a referendum before March 29th. EU has already indicated that an extension to #Article50 would have to end before Euro elections around May 23-25. Still not enough time for a referendum. Plus, Conservatives, Labour & DUP oppose 2nd EU referendum.I accept *if* there was a 2nd EU referendum Remain could win.

Lots of talk that you can't rule out a no-deal #Brexit
WRONG!
Time limit discussions on other options. If no agreement reached, and the default no-deal approaches then #Article50 can be revoked, unilaterally.
Simples.

According to John Bercow (Speaker) it is possible for Theresa May to unilaterally cancel the debate/vote that was scheduled for tomorrow.
That being the case #Labour should have joined with other opposition parties to push for vote of no confidence in Tory govt.
Allowing more time for PM to renegotiate, allows May to "run down the clock". There will be no time left for alternatives. It'll be May deal or no deal. Cancel #Article50 possible but unlikely. #PeoplesVote is likely dead.
-
#CJEU has now confirmed what was expected anyway: that the UK is free to unilaterally revoke #Article50 if it wanted to.

I drafted #article50. We can and must delay #Brexit for a #referendum | #JohnKerr | #Opinion | The Guardian

That was quick!
EU Commission & EU Council have confirmed that #Article50 is revocable. All that remains is for CJEU to confirm specific legal parameters.
So, #Brexit now has (at least) three possible outcomes:
* Theresa May plan
* No deal
* UK unilaterally cancels Brexit (revokes Article 50)
