@taylorlorenz And "just don't show any 9/11 pics" is easier said then done. People still don't get, that "A plane crashing into two skyscrapers" isn't the exact same thing as "9/11 and the WTC". It's one thing to generate an image but a whole different one to implement proper content filters, hence the skepticism towards "upload filters" during the EU's #Article13 debate

The #DataFarms will attempt to capture any new regulation and twist it into anti-competitive forms that disproportionately target smaller players, and even non-commercial ones like most #fediverse instances (eg #Article13). But if we can educate politicians enough, they might begin dismantling the datafarming revenue model that gives #TheStacks their dominance (eg #GDPR).

I'm so frustrated by the public debate about #SocialMedia since the mosque shootings. People who seem to have only just noticed that corporate dominance of the net causes problems are jumping on kneejerk solutions like mass #censorship and removal of services (eg FB turning off #LiveStreaming). They seem oblivious to the #UnintendedConsequences that, like those of #Article13 of the #EUCopyrightDirective, are blatantly obvious to those of us who have been studying the systemic problems for years.
