View of Arthur's Seat, just before dusk this afternoon. Personally I rather like the fact our city boasts an extinct volcano and large surrounding park, giving hill walks right in the middle of the city!
Not to mention the links to Hutton and the beginnings of geology here... The huge Castle Rock is an offshoot of this long extinct volcano, from millions of years ago.

One of the wonderful things about living in #Edinburgh is passing a street and finding a sudden view of Arthur's Seat and the Salisbury Crags. I do enjoy having a huge, extinct volcano in the middle of our city.
The fact this area is also important in James Hutton's work that firms the bedrock (pun intended) of modern geology also pleases my science geek brain.
