  3. "there is one thing that seems more and more 'in the air' - the realisation that the supremacy of the machine, which is rapidly making robots of humanity, must be faced. And the machine must be put in its place as a servant to do the servile work only, freeing humanity to exercise its birthright of imaginative creative work. ...
Art may indeed be under a cloud. But if it is not the spirit of the Creator working in us I do not know what it is. And it cannot be eternally killed."

  4. Another #arthurRackham picture; i have a few books that he illustrated, and his illustrations are now out of copyright.

Alas, they are all (if in colour) printed with the four-colour process, which actively resists scanning. I’ve wondered about training an “AI”, although others have reported poor results.

Anyway, here is Adrtift, from The Snow Queen.

  7. CW: a visual depiction of why content warnings can sometimes be helpful

A young woman stumbles unwittingly over a subject that contains many of her personal demons.

Over the years I have picked up different #books featuring #illustrations by different #artists for #EdgarAllanPoe stories: #ArthurRackham #Dulac #Satty #HarryClarke #Dore etc and just picked up a #SimonMarsden one (I have several of his #photography books but never illustrated a Poe picture myself until this year. Never felt worthy enough in that company but here is my #MasqueOfTheRedDeath illustration for #SpectralIllusions7TalesOfChromaticHorror book.

    I may do more sometime.
