  4. Disney’s Artemis Fowl wants you to believe its lead is a criminal mastermind. The problem? He never has to outsmart anyone — just read the script ahead of time.
Now playing: smug prodigies, barked Judi Dench orders, and the least convincing evil plan this side of a cereal box.

  5. For #StandingStoneSunday here is a shot of the Hill of Tara. Taken on the same day / trip as the #Newgrange shots posted over the last few months. Gosh it was wet and windy up there that day. I was especially happy to get there as it’s mentioned in the first #ArtemisFowl book by Mr C. Follow for more stones. #ireland #HillofTara #neolithic

  10. Completely unimportant things that have annoyed me for ages:

In #ArtemisFowl 4, Artemis and Holly and up handcuffed with combination locks that use 3 digits of a 10 symbol alphabet and have to kinda quickly get out.

Holly (I think?) points out that brute-force is not a viable option, since there are “thousands of posibilities”, to which Artemis responds “millions even”, with the narrator describing it as him having the need to correct others even in dire situations like they are in.

The issue is: Artems is a super genius. And that’s not a minor aspect of him, that is THE premise of the entire series: A 14 year old hyper-intelligent villain protagonist takes on the ultra high-tech hidden world of fairies with the simple motive of personal profit.

The issue is: The combination lock has a trivial to calculate 10³ = 1000 possible combinations, which someone with 50 IQ points less than Artemis would have known. How did something like this get past the editor‽ At least they should have asked someone to check!

  14. Similarly, I don't read a lot of books — at least, those of fiction. 😯

However, some works that stuck strongly to me include the Count of Monte Cristo, 1984, the #ChroniclesOfNarnia, #HarryPotter series, #ArtemisFowl, and Cory Doctorow's Little Brother.

  32. @stasp The #ArtemisFowl series made me who I am today, no exaguration. I can't even begin to think of all the ways my life would be different without it. My love for tech, my desire to further humanity, to be more environmentally friendly, even my general outlook on compassion and friendship, all came from this series.

  42. How to screw up everything. Aber cool, dass sie aus den Büchern... äh... naja ich glaube die Namen haben sie übernommen? Und äh... die "Elfenwelt" ist unter der Erde, glaube ich...? Das reicht anscheinend. #ArtemisFowl

  43. Beweisstück Nr. 231234X, dass Disney alles vermurkst:

Habt ihr den Trailer zu #ArtemisFowl gesehen? Omggggg.......... 🙅 😵

  44. I'm still mad about the trailer and I feel the urge of drawing our smug cunning boy plotting to expand his father's criminal empire!

I had this idea a couple of days ago, I first drew a sketch with color pencils

It took me so many hours during the course of this week to finish, I struggled the most with the face, sometimes I draw something on paper but when I finish it digitally, it doesn't look like what I originally intended in the sketch.
