Artist(s) unknown - #Crucifixion

"Okay, not overly happy at being crucified, but at least they haven't nailed my dad-bod up to die next to some heroin-thin ripped rock-star type with a ridiculously massive whanger. And now to take a little look to my right to confirm oh for fook's sake."

Artist unknown - 'Apulian red-figure owl skyphos' - 4th century BC

This wee fella is over 2,000 years old, but I doubt a more charming bird has been painted on a bowl since he first came along.

#SybilAndrews (1898-1992) - "Football" - 1937

There's no billionaire-league #soccer today because of international matches. So here's a depiction of real #football, when a player would be ashamed to pretend they were hurt.

Eric and Joan Woodward - " #Owl "

I'm going to take a punt and say this is a #GreatGreyOwl. Convince me otherwise? (It's a belter, whatever it is.)

Artist unknown - "Madchen"

Reminder to those of us living under the seemingly permanent grey of UK skies: one day the sun will shine again. (And then I will likely mither because it's too hot.)

#PeruvianSchool - "Virgin of Solitude" - 18th century

Reminds me of the Mare De Deu #ofrenda statue that #Valencia makes out of flowers every year during #Fallas.

#KanoMotonobu (1476-1559) - "The Folding Screen Painting Of Chinese Lions"

*looking at folding screen while artist is still painting it*
"Are you sure you've painted lions before?"
"Erm, hehe, yeah, loads... Listen, what hairstyle do you want me to give them? I was thinking a perm for one and a mullet for the other."

#DoraHolzhandler (1928-2015) - "Lovers in Winter" - 2003

Usually I put a #ContentWarning up when I post #nude art, but the style of this picture is so far from pornographic I thought it probably wasn't necessary this time. Sorry if I got that wrong.

#GustavLüttgens - "Geometric #abstract with the #BrandenburgGate" - 1961

I don't know if this particular style has a name. I don't know what the meaning or importance of this #picture is. 1961 was the year the #BerlinWall went up, I think? Any enlightenment from #Germany welcome! (I just like looking at it.)

#StephenJohnOwen - "Woodland with bluebells"

#Spring in the UK has been a bit weird. Warmish weather followed by cold, frost and snow. Sometimes within the same day. The #cherry -type #trees have blossomed and are now on the way out, while the #magnolias are refusing to open their treasure. Meanwhile, the #flowers don't know what to do. So here's a lush bed of #bluebells to look at while we're waiting.

#LillTschudi (1911-2004) - "Skiing" - 1934

It's the #weekend, it's been #snowing, would love to strap the old skis on and hit the slopes. (I haven't been #skiing for decades. Wouldn't know which muscles to tense.)

I'm going to try regularly posting pieces of #art (not mine - I can't draw for toffee).

So let's start with a belter: this 1919 #portrait of #JeanneHebuterne by Amedeo #Modigliani (1884-1920) is the prize I would pick if you let me own any #WorkOfArt in the whole wide world. I love it so much. (I had the privilege of seeing it once, and I sat and looked at it for hours.)
