  1. Noodling around with the 2600 tonight. That thing makes some pretty gnarly sounds! Tried the classics: Frankenstein, R2D2, etc., then a couple from the original patch book, then just messed about for a while. Very cool! 🎹 🤓

  2. New #review today: " In 2024, #Steve Roach met Dina Pearlman-Ifil, who is the director of the #AlanRPearlman Foundation, and they conceived of a collection of music by artists using ARP machines as a tribute on the 100th anniversary of Pearlman’s birth. During the company’s existence (1969-1981) many of the most famous synthesizer parts in jazz and rock were played on ARP instruments." #ElectronicMusic #MartinGore #JohnFoxx #DavidTorn #MarkIsham #CraigPadilla #ARP2600 expose.org/index.php/articles/

  5. @[email protected] this is it, working exactly as it should as soon as I got it up onto the table to dismantle and repair the VCF normalisation path to VCA to eventually make it work again exactly like this, except it beat me to it

  6. Oh well, funny how luck goes sometimes – my wife being in Jamaica at this time, and I’ve finished travelling up to see family, I have a few days in this my birthday week (it’s the time of year for all the birthdays) so I had planned to repair my ARP 2600 which was going to be sold except that during the summer I noticed it had a fault – the VCF normalised route was not making through to the VCA, I suspected the output jack had developed a hitherto nonexistent problem, so I needed to do a quick bit of maintenance and sort it out, but the ARP 2600 is so big I need to rearrange the furniture and lay out a surface so I can dismantle it, and that’s best done when Deli’s away, she wouldn’t want it dismantled for several days while I take my time tinkering with it

It took me about a month of it laid out apart when I rebuilt the 4019 VCA module for it several years ago (on veroboard using modern equiv transistors to the original circuit, and it worked nicely (I built four veroboard VCAs and chose the best))

So, I’ve got it up on a surface and ready to dismantle, I try it out, and lo (and even behold) the problem is not there – it all works as it should and I could’ve put it in for being sold by now

(I still will, it’s the ARP 2600 that used to belong to Roger Glover, it’s got his name stencilled to the outside of the cases)

So… hmph, good, and, well, no, it’s all good
