  7. A seriously good resource, regarding Firefox Browser extensions. I stumbled upon it, whilst looking at the issues project viewing board for the Mullvad Browser.

it was useful for me, so hopefully it will be of interest to others

  8. @ricardo with user settings. I can't browse without history on a daily basis so or just in edge-cases.

  9. @villares

Completely different project. #Librewolf is vanilla #Firefox with #privacy hardening through a custom default config.

#Zen has no major privacy hardening, but a ton of custom UI elements and a new extension system for UI additions. Or does it? I havent seen much

Zen can be used with #Arkenfox user.js though, which I would recommend, after changing some defaults

  10. #Firefox drama update:

Been using #Ironfox for Android[1] since Mull by DivestOS has been discontinued a couple of months ago.

Ironfox is a privacy hardened fork of Firefox with proprietary blobs removed. It enables many features upstreamed by the #Tor uplift project using preferences from the #arkenfox `user.js` project.

It's available on the Accrescent, F-Droid and Obtainium stores.

  11. If like me you don't like to run Chrome on Android, meet #Ironfox[1], a great project that continues the legacy of the now defunct #Mull[2] by #DivestOS.

Ironfox enables features upstreamed by the #Tor uplift project and preferences from the `arkenfox-user.js` project.

Repo to be added to F-droid/NeoStore: fdroid.ironfoxoss.org/fdroid/r

  12. I lost all my open tabs on because I closed it and used the from ? At least thats what I assume, I wasn't aware it does that. *sigh*

  13. I lost all my open tabs on #Firefox because I closed it and used the #prefscleaner from #arkenfox ? At least thats what I assume, I wasn't aware it does that. *sigh*

  16. Just lost my years old browser history, because I didn't understand the release notes of #arkenfox 126 (github.com/arkenfox/user.js/re) correctly.

#Firefox 128 changed some preferences names for sanitizing. So arkenfox added them with their default values.

If you have "clean on shutdown" enabled, but with the exception of "history", check for the new value to add it to your override, or you will lose it all with the latest Firefox and arkenfox updates.

  17. Firefox user.js: Betterfox wird oft als Alternative zu Arkenfox genannt. Hier eine Stellungnahme zu Betterfox von Thorin-Oakenpants (Arkenfox-Maintainer). 👇

  18. @bluecanary3 Depends on your threat model, but check out #Arkenfox which includes a link to a youtube overview, Firefox hardening guide, for how to get a baseline relatively secure setup.

  19. Going full in on arkenfox hardening, yet still feels lacking.

  21. @Scorpion8741 @trafotin @librewolf for how long you're going to use #arkenfox and the main dev said they'll retire it because Mullvad browser exists now, and it has way better approach to browser fingerprinting resistance ( this proves my point : forks do matter )

Librewolf will have to work on their own configuration to debloat Firefox once that happens, and in my opinion trust doesn't count much as an argument because everything is done in the open ( FLOSS ), I never heard Trafotin uses this argument ( and he shouldn't ) because he writes configuration scripts and so he's a third party !!

so you see this argument isn't always valid

if it was about trust, than I do trust the devs who are doing more to protect the user privacy and security than those who don't, but the first rule is it has to be done in the open.

  22. THE YEAR IS 2023:-

Developers have yet to realise they can load websites faster by including popular #fonts with #browsers.

Not only that, they can help end the seedy, #massSurveillance business of the #CDN and help our #environment with less bandwidth throughput requirements.

    Who knew!?

Maybe someone can include @torproject in this because we think they block us.

    #fontLicensing #fontSurveillance #dotCons #torBrowser #librewolf #arkenfox

  23. First Browser is default settings, second one is + origin and third browser is a different profile without arkenfox.
Weirdly enough, sometimes same page refuses to load on the third browser.

  24. Is it just me or is something broken with one of the following + origin + ?
Trying to troubleshoot for some hours now, playing with new profiles, I cannot find a clear culprit.
Pages just sometimes refues to load (white page with tab loading endlessly), sometimes they kinda load but the tab seems to load nevertheless. Affected sites seem to be random.

  25. @StartpageSearch

    Short answer: Firefox.

Long answer: #Firefox + #Arkenfox user.js (with a custom override) + #uBlockOrigin (and a well curated yet minimal set of blocklists) + Skip Redirect + Smart Referer + Redirector (and a big list of custom redirects to privacy a respecting frontends and such). I also have a second, less restrictive user profile for playing DRM media when needed and another one for light OSINT stuff.

This is of course paired with #Mullvad #VPN and #StartPage as my homepage/default search engine. :)

I've got a couple of non-privacy related add-ons, as well, so this setup gives me basically all the privacy you can get on a modern browser (excluding Tor, maybe) while still being fast, optimized, and customized to my liking.

  26. Finally set up a new profile with the help of Curious if it makes sense to use a second browser (which one) which need to many exceptions (e.g. Smart Referer etc.)

  27. @sai
Thanks likwise for the heads up about #Arkenfox.

Will be away from keyboard but from what we have learned, #Epicyon need to be boosted up a bit. Their servers don't even require JS and they are #onionMaximalist in their approach which is what civilisation needs today.
