It's hard to ignore the importance of the Erie Canal's influence on the Rochester region. For my final two photos of this series, I chose the Fairport Lift Bridge and the remains of some old wooden canal barges.

With so many old trees and frequent storms the area is full of their broken remnants. This one is in Genesee Valley Park near the river. It's home to an interesting group of fungi that has colonized the lowest section.

Older ROC folks will remember Sykes Datatronics, which occupied this building on the old Delco site. It was one of the more spectacular local business failures. The warehouse building on Brown Street overlooked the canal and then the subway and lives on as storage space.

I finally found a process that works with the Arista Ortho Litho film and I wanted to share some of the photos I've taken with it. Ortho film is insensitive to red, rendering it dark to almost black, and turns blues, like the sky, white.
