So Australia’s music charts just banned AI-generated songs - Bravo !
From now on, to qualify for ARIA charts, tracks have to be substantially human made. That means actual humans writing the songs, singing lead vocals, and playing the main instruments. AI can still help with mastering or effects, but the heart of the music has to come from people.
This came after a Madonna cover by DJ Josh Fawaz largely AI made has topped the dance chart and hit #2 overall. It felt wrong. Music is about connection, emotion, and human experience. Letting algorithms take over the charts cheapens that for everyone, especially for real artists pouring their souls into their work.
ARIA’s message is spot on. A chart that rewards unlicensed AI output would undercut the very basis of the recorded music we exist to represent.
I’m all for using AI as a tool, it can be creative and fun. This move protects musicians, keeps the charts meaningful, and says loud and clear music is human first.#MusicMatters #AIAustralia #SupportRealArtists #HumanArtistry #ARIACharts
