  1. You're not thinking of something like Cairo Dock. That differs too much
It would not be usable in this context.

The fix I have is all the way back in AREXX on the*Amiga*
With that you could control menus and it would be (not) trivial to write your own Universal menu interface and control it from the AREXX device in your programs. For that you'd need to program a AREXX daemon for your OS and a universal menu interface that you control from your programs through the AREXX daemon

Are you up for that work?

  2. I also found a copy of the ARexx User’s Guide for the Amiga. I’m almost tempted to read it and see how much of it I remember of it.

The first version of the 2D platformer Blutti was actually written in ARexx for a BBS system. So it was entirely in ASCII, the player character was an ampersand.

Sadly, I can’t find any copy of it anymore, but it might be out there on a backup of someone’s BBS. It would be fun to see if I could remake some of the levels in the new version.

  3. @mathr Hi! glad to find someone who spent time tweaking #octamed :) i have been collecting and studying #AREXX scripts to find new ideas - am converting them to #LUA for #renoise and your idea sounds interesting, do you have a direct aminet link or sourcecode i could take a look at? I have added dozens of features from #PlayerPro #octamed #protracker #impulsetracker #pollytracker #modplugtracker #openmpt #madtracker etc into my add-on for Renoise, #paketti. Always looking 4 more.

  4. Spaß am Amiga...

Wir schreiben uns ein paar ARexx Scripte zum Starten und zu Benachrichtigungen von YAM mit ein paar komfortablen Optionen zur Auswahl...

  5. Recently I started to read a book about #ARexx, the #Amiga version of the #Rexx language.
I'm unable to understand why I underestimated this language for no reason because ARexx has very advanced features for the time.
One feature that impressed me are the compound variables, something like arrays, but much more evolved and in some ways they remind me #LUA tables.
If any #Amigans has ignored ARexx like me, I highly recommend taking a look at the docs that you can now find anywhere.

  10. Ok, I wrote an #AREXX script that uses a #WiFi232 modem to grab the current time from NTP and sets the #Amiga clock. First time in almost 25 years since I wrote something in AREXX!
