Guild Wars 2 has been around for a long time, and with this latest expansion it shows why it's still so very good

  2. The Making of Guild Wars: Celebrating 25 Years of ArenaNet

    youtube.com/watch?v=cpm2fBvrAbw

A one-hour documentary(?) about the studio that created one (or rather, two) of the best MMOs out there, with the best and kindest community around it.

I might have cried a little watching this. So many happy memories.

    Here's to another 25 years!

  3. Finally after ~20 years, #ArenaNet lets me change my account email address.
    Better late than never.

  5. Thank you, #ArenaNet, for giving us the joy that is #VisionsOfEternity. This expansion has it all: gorgeous maps, intriguing and well-written story that makes you care and speculate, cool and fun collections, and frigging jumping puzzles!😍 Lovelovelove!🥰

  6. Because #ArenaNet practically gave away an achievement-based Legendary, now I want more. Here's my first resources-based Legendary: The Juggernaut! #GuildWars2 #GW2 #gaming #MMORPG

  7. ArenaNet shifts more resources to Classic Guild Wars as it turns 19 years old. OK, one dev. Actually, part of one dev. But a bigger part than before? We'll take it.

  8. In a shareholder meeting, #NCsoft Co-CEO and acting chairman Park Byeong-moo basically announced that #ArenaNet is working on #GuildWars3.

    > ArenaNet has a meaningful IP called ‘Guild Wars’, and after Guild Wars 2, they are currently working on ‘Guild Wars 3’.

This is all based on MassivelyOP's translation of a report in a #Korean press article:

There's _got_ to be a statement by ANet in the coming days.

  9. The Kirin Jackal Skin brief was to design a skin that could replace a previous design for a Kirin-like creature.

  10. @[email protected] Hmm… I would suggest #GuildWars2. ^_^

Very helpful community (in-game, official forums). And the developer,
#ArenaNet is very welcoming of everyone. They recently concluded a years long LGBT relationship into a marriage in the latest expansion. Everyone was happy about it. We all followed the story of those two great characters since they met each other 10 years ago (real time).

There is a feature limited free trial available. Then you can purchase the game and its expansions. Playing is free forever, you only have to buy once.

While there is a Gem store, there are no items that are sold which gives an advantage over other players. Pretty much everything is about fashion and item/mount skins, and similar (it's why the game is also dubbed
    #FashionWars).

Also, in-game gold can be converted to Gems. If you're good with farming and getting a good deal with the exchange, then you're at par with those who buy Gems with real-money.

Some vanity items are also sold in other ways. So, if later they do decide to offer a non-vanity item, they will more likely make it accessible in other ways, too. But, again, it's doubtful they'll offer such an item since the devs themselves are against it.

    So, yeah, it's not a “pay-to-win” MMO.

    I play casually myself. In
#GW2, you can go in hiatus and come back a few years later, even a decade later, and you'll still be at par with everyone else. There's no need to grind gear just to catch up with everyone.

There's more to say about the game, but it's getting longer. ^_^

  11. @gw2bot Hah. I wonder what they'll do with those who exploited this bug, especially since it was in #WvW, which is important for the #guildwars2 team.

There are bugs that are fine to be exploited, like the plague in #WorldOfWarcraft which turned into a pandemic across all servers (I was one of the first few who discovered and exploited it, LOL). That's something who don't ban people because it's harmless.

But, bugs like this which affects core game mechanics? It's bannable. I wonder how #ArenaNet will handle this one.

  12. CW: spoiler for the beginning of Guild Wars 2’s “Heart of Thorns” expansion

Listening to the #HeartOfThorns soundtrack, I fondly remember how surprised and devastated I was when I entered #VerdantBrink for the first time and—after all of the hyped-up call to arms and “we’re taking the fight to #Mordremoth” talk—I found the fleet completely shattered. Burning. Broken.

That was an _awesome_ way to start the expansion.
