The wolves were doing well. These guys (the three here, plus number four who was off in the background) are going to be two years old soon.
Usually when there's something to investigate, these three are out first, and then the other one will come along shortly.

A few pictures from the nature center from last week, I remembered I'd set aside for posting here. The arctic wolves are going to be two pretty soon, and are enjoying their larger enclosure. I got a pic of one of our coyotes, who I don't get to see up close very often.

The wolves got treats today too. The arctics were out and about, and all four were checking out visitors when we opened. They weren't as quick to approach their treats, but they got them all eventually. The one approaching the box here ended up grabbing it and taking it back into the enclosure, where all four of them tore it apart.
These four will be two years old in the spring. They're siblings, three brothers and a sister, and so far they're doing well together. They have 9.5 acres to explore.

More wolf pictures. The arctics were cautious as usual, but happy to get their treat. The turkey was a hit, as were the sweet potatoes and cranberries.
The four arctics here are siblings, three brothers and one sister. One of the brothers is usually the first to venture out and explore new things, with one of the others close behind. In general though they all stick together.

#Wolf update. Today was sunny, but also cold and windy. The animals seemed comfortable, however we did recently swap the enclosures for two packs. The arctics got moved into our larger enclosure, which has ponds and serious acreage. I didn't get a good pic of all four of them. (The one I have is the white one here who is standing up and walking.)
The other two pictured, the large black one and the white one laying down, were originally in that enclosure, but are now in a smaller one. The white one is the black one's mom, as well as mother to two other wolves here. They've been in this enclosure before when we've let them in to explore before moving the arctics in, but are used to the bigger one, so it's an adjustment. They're normally used to having more space to disappear to when there are visitors, but they still have places to do that now if they want.
As an aside, the darker one is our largest wolf. Most of our's are around 80 to 120 lbs (36 to 54 kg), although he's around 140 lbs (63.5 kg). That's more on the bigger side for a wolf. The arctics still have some growing to do so it should be interesting to see how big they get.

One of the arctic wolves came up to see me when I pulled in, came right up to the fence, and stayed fairly close as I approached. I think they'd already been fed by that point, but at least this one was probably just curious as to what one of their humans was up to that day.
The darker one pictured here also came out to say hi. She is actually very personable, since she actually spent quite a bit of time with some of our staff after being removed from her mediate family, who was picking on her. She actually loves human attention, although she's a little unsure of me. She does fine with her uncle (not pictured), and white wolf.

The darker one pictured here was napping toward the end of the day. It was cold out, and they were a little more active earlier, but at the point I think he had the right idea.

All our animals have shelter with a roof available to them, if they want it, although they hardly use it. Most enclosures do have platforms like the one he's standing on, and these are usually a hit.
