#SC25 in wonderful St. Louis was a blast! I showcased this FluidX3D-on-Arc-Pro workstation demo there, met so many friends, had exciting conversations with all sorts of #HPC enthusiasts. And I finally saw the Cardinals - the bright red/brown birds that became the symbol of the city's famous Baseball team. 🐦

🎉 My #day30 map showing a Relative Elevation Model (REM) of the New River and New River Gorge in West Virginia. It is considered as the oldest river in North America and flows south to north through the Appalachians. HT to #ESRI S. Fleming for the tutorial.

I used open data from the United Nations to calculate the percentage of landcover in square km for Madagascar. Using subdivide polygon into 100 sections is the key to layering the data.

My #day26 map for the #30DayMapChallenge is more symbolic for the Minimal (less is more) theme. Plaquemines Parrish, Louisiana sits at the nexus of the Mississippi River and the Gulf of Mexico. Less coastal erosion and fewer saltwater intrusions will bring more ecosystem benefits. Map shows a false color infrared composite of a Landsat 9 scene texturized. Living vegetation is red and water is dark blue.

French cartographer Nicolas Desliens is the inspiration for my #Day22 map - North is not always up. #Day20 theme is Outdoors (Map of mountains, trails, etc.). I wanted to try draping a geologic map over a DEM and chose one of my favorite places Pitkin County, CO with the Maroon Bells area. Blue color: Maroon formation; Red: granodiorite; Yellow: surficial deposits.

Day 8 of the #30DayMapChallenge. I used USGS open source data on mineral deposits in Africa. The viz is based on #esri John Nelson's map hacks for ArcPro and tessellation maps. South Africa had the highest count at 321 deposits in this dataset.

I really enjoyed seeing all of the Day 1 toots and data viz! For Day 2, I’m getting out of my comfort zone to explore hydrological data. The map shows streams and reaches from the USGS National Hydrography Dataset (Hydrological Unit 8) in the upper Potomac River Watershed.

@TeslaDuBois A little late, but I was curious about this as well. In #ArcPro, if you add the Move Effect to your symbology (under Properties > Structure), it will activate the XY offset option for that symbol. The legend does look funny tho. 😂

I'm interested in peoples' feelings about doing cartography in ArcPro vs. QGIS or other alternatives. Not a professional cartographer but need to make figures for research publications. Is it worth taking the time to learn something new; are there better options or not substantially? #cartography #ArcPro
