Finished the Archive 81 podcast. It was very good :blobfoxfloofhappy:​ Though the Netflix show had basically nothing to do with the podcast outside of the initial setup, I like both the show and the podcast a lot. I wish we could get more of either of them. :blobfoxmeltsoblove:​

Of course, as with any series that is unique and offers something interesting, but not conventionally "blockbucter" #Netflix cans it. #Archive81 was not exceptional, but it was interesting, and I suspect if given space to evolve, would have become something truly memorable. It's mix of gothic noir and A24 style horror overlay was compelling enough of an idea to do more than just one season.

I'm in the middle of watching Archive 81, which is great though it's a bummer it was already canceled. To compensate, I started listening to the podcast source material but the problem there is that it's simply impossible to suspend my disbelief with radio dramas.

I’ve been watching #archive81 and it kinda has me on edge so every time any tech acts strangely I smash it with a big wrench and run away. Anyway, I need to go buy a new printer

I’m watching Archive 81 and feeling vaguely like I would enjoy it more if I hadn’t already watched Dark and read Laird Barron’s Hand of Glory, and all the rest of the eldritch/cosmic/cult horror things.

That said, it’s also got some pretty creaky plot-mandated character choices going on. It’s not spooky enough to justify that kind of suspension of disbelief.

My anger with Netflix and the streaming establishment only grows, as 1899 is cancelled after one season.

I didn't watch it, because I've learned not to invest in Netflix series, with the exception of Stranger Things which is too big at this point. I hate that this company owns some of my favorite movies of the last couple years (Glass Onion, Tick, Tick... Boom!), and I have no other way to access them without paying Netflix and hoping they continue to make them available.
