  4. My son has redirected his mail to me. Amongst the bits and pieces, bank statements, reminders, etc, there are some items he is ok for sharing:)
He belongs to Heritage New Zealand and they publish a magazine quarterly. Its an intriguing read about our heritage and often articles about a particular building.
The latest edition has an article about the repurposing of what was CIT ( Central Institute of Technology). A polytechnic that served Upper Hutt and the region from the 70s until 2001 when it closed. It sat dormant for 15 years. It was purchased by two local individuals in 2015, with the vision and determination to repurpose the complex, preserving it's architecture and to create a quite unique environment for different purposes. They certainly achieved that.
It now serves as a training and accomodation facility for various sporting bodies including high performance athletes. The All Blacks, Black Ferns, Hurricanes Rugby, Wellington Phoenix and support people, just to name a few.
It has 450 accommodation rooms, daycare center, gyms, recovery pools and other indoor space for various activities. It also has various outdoor playing fields for training and events.
The architecture is "brutalist", reflecting the period it was built.
It is a now a grand example of what can be done to preserve and repurpose some of this countries past and turn it into a living thing again.
    Well done to those involved.
A plug for Heritage New Zealand is also to be had. It is involved with preservation of NZ as we knew it and as it is now. It is always welcoming new members.

I short video link to the now New Zealand Campus of Innovation and Sport is below.
