Du bist gerade in Griechenland in der Nähe von #Koroni? Dann schau doch mal bei unserem kleinen Informationsstand von #Archelon vorbei.
Hier kannst du uns jeden Tag (noch bis Ende September) mit Fragen über #schildkröten löchern, dich über unsere Arbeit informieren, was wir generell und speziell hier in Koroni machen und wie du uns dabei unterstützen kannst. Zum Beispiel, indem du ein kleines Andenken kaufst, eine Patenschaft abschließt oder uns durch eine kleine Spende hilfst, unsere Arbeit zu finanzieren.Du kannst dir aber auch Ratschläge abholen, wie du dich am besten am Strand verhältst, was du tun kannst, wenn du tagsüber eine geschlüpfte Schildkröte auf ihrem Weg zum Meer antriffst, und, und, und...

Neben den Projekten, bei denen wir die #Nester und #Niststrände, sowie insbesondere die geschlüpften #schildkröten schützen, betreibt #Archelon auch ein #Rettungszentrum in der Nähe von Athen. Hier werden verletzte oder kranke Schildkröten, die an Griechenlands Stränden aufgesammelt wurden, versorgt, medizinisch behandelt, u.a. durch Medikamente und Operationen, und anschließend wieder auf ein Leben in freier Wildbahn vorbereitet.
Falls ihr also mal in #athen sein solltet, könnt ihr gerne mal dort vorbeischauen und den Leuten dort beim Arbeiten zuschauen, sowie die Patienten aus nächster Nähe sehen. Zudem könnt ihr dort an einer Führung teilnehmen, bei der ihr Fragen stellen könnt und weitergehende Informationen über Schildkröten und unsere Arbeit erhaltet.
Der Eintritt ist kostenlos, eine kleine Spende ist natürlich gerne gesehen, um z.B. die Behandlungskosten zu decken :)

Neben der Arbeit für #Archelon darf natürlich auch die Freizeit und das #urlaubsfeeling nicht zu kurz kommen.
Da kommt die Tatsache, dass das Meer direkt neben dem Campingplatz ist, natürlich wie gerufen.Jetzt hatte ich zum ersten Mal auch die Gelegenheit, mal ein paar Fotos von der faszinierenden #Unterwasserwelt zu machen, unter anderem von wunderschönen Korallen, Fischen und anderen Meeresbewohnern.
Wer die dazugehörigen Namen kennt, kann mich hier gerne erleuchten :) -
@midide Leider passend zu dem Thema: ausnahmslos alle #Meeresschildkröten, die in dem Rettungszentrum von #Archelon untersucht wurden, hatten Mikroplastik im Magen...

Urlaub in Griechenland machen und gleichzeitig #Artenschutz für #Meeresschildkröten betreiben?
Möglich macht das der gemeinnützige Verein #Archelon, der sich mit acht Projektstandorten entlang der griechischen Küste und einem Rehabilitationszentrum in der Nähe Athens dem Schutz der Meeresschildkröten verschrieben hat.
Ich darf für mehrere Wochen als eine von vielen Freiwilligen von überall aus der Welt (m)einen Teil dazu beitragen und somit einen aktiven Beitrag zum Artenschutz der Unechten Karettschildkröte (Caretta caretta) leisten.
Dein Interesse wurde geweckt? Dann darfst du dich die nächsten Tage und Wochen auf Trööts über meine Arbeit hier freuen 😊
