This pattern was set in motion by the first of the wars. The vote by the #UN General Assembly in 1947 to partition #BritishPalestine into two states, one #Jewish and one #Arab, set off an explosion of violence against local Jewish communities almost immediately in #Palestine itself.
If there were doubts about the justice of the cause being fought for—preventing the establishment of a Jewish state—there is little record for that.

Its purpose has never been to ameliorate the condition of #Palestinians.

Egged on by neighboring #Arab states, who #Palestinians let fight #inTheirName, they rejected the #TwoStateSolution because misguided #Arabism prevented them from accepting a good enough solution.After their defeat, wealthy Arab states just walked away without doing anything to rehabilitate their #Palestinian #Brothers, only to resurface and fight repeatedly in hopes of wiping out #Israel rather than independence of Palestine.
That's why #secular one state is a fantasy

#Arab territorial ambition, NOT #Palestinian welfare, drove #DamascusProtocol by secret Arab societies
Arabs promised to help #British against #OttomanEmpire in exchange for Arab independence, but Palestinians had NO agency in that, nor did they do anything to get anything from British in return.
#Britain never promised them that land.
Since root of the problem is #territorial, not #religious, #secular one-state is not solution

Sorry to hear of your personal experience from 1940s. I have never faced such a situation myself, but I stand with #Israel because of the clarity I now have that I did not have during the #SecondIntifada.
The more I look closely at #Hamas tactics, the more I am convinced that, #Netanyahu or no Netanyahu, there is no peace possible because the problem is singularly one of #Arabism They don’t want JUST independence.
#Zionism is just an excuse to keep this #permanentStateOfWar alive

The reason why the above toot concentrates on the folly of keeping a hybrid #wolfdog as a family pet, rather than the tragedy of the infant's death, is because highlighting the resulting tragedy would suppress the #cause, and steer attention to the #effect instead.
