  1. Been setting up a planted freshwater tank, first freshwater aquarium I've done since like 2006! Getting the ntirogen cycle established took 3 weeks with the plants competing on the ammonia.

Started sparse with the plants, they've grown a ton, going to be clipping and replanting stems this weekend before adding fish.

Already a lot of hitchiker snails.

  2. Bluesky released its #video feature and I would love to try it!

Here's an #aquarium from my #agriculture #research for water quality controls in a very dense #aquascape tank. The test was to observe the oxygen level swing when the gas pump is off (#guppies will all be at the surface).

  3. Finally got tired of the algae problems in the smaller #aquarium and bought a Fluval 207 canister filter (which I use effectively in the 200L), and an inline clarifier to kill the algae. #aquascape

    Over about 5 days it’s done a great job…

  4. Re-scaping my secondary aquarium. This was a quarantine tank, and it was looking quite bare and plain.
I've added lots of lava rocks, plants, and moss from the main tank. I plan to start a shrimp colony here.

  5. So I got this piece of driftwood but it wouldn't sink to the bottom, and I already soaked it in a bucket for days.
Maybe I just have to go for the floating upside-down/antigravity look?

  6. So, aquascaping is basically like bonsai but underwater.

  7. Whenever I set up a new tank, I plan on pulling the val out and replacing with some anubias or something low lying and distinct in color to fill that section out.

That would also be a great opportunity to rehome the endlers to a larger tank. Maybe they won't be as aggro w/ each other if they are in a 10g.

Either way, I am adding shrimp next week!!

  8. I did a 30% water change yesterday and along with that put in some smaller inflow/outflow pipes. The outflow is a spin pipe which has improved surface agitation and isn't overwhelming the tank with flow.

I also added some Eheim double taps to the tubing for easier maintenance in the future. I am super stoked on that!

Plant growth has been really good. With that water change I cut down some stem plants and replanted them.

  9. I don't think the little one was getting enough to eat. I tried to feed him extra while the others were distracted but I could never tell if he was getting enough.

These endlers are really particular. They seem very focused on their ranks in the tank and are constantly harassing one another. Maybe I should have gone with a more docile fish.

In other news, the snails are doing great. The mystery snail is so much fun to watch.
