Been setting up a planted freshwater tank, first freshwater aquarium I've done since like 2006! Getting the ntirogen cycle established took 3 weeks with the plants competing on the ammonia.
Started sparse with the plants, they've grown a ton, going to be clipping and replanting stems this weekend before adding fish.
Already a lot of hitchiker snails.

Finally got tired of the algae problems in the smaller #aquarium and bought a Fluval 207 canister filter (which I use effectively in the 200L), and an inline clarifier to kill the algae. #aquascape
Over about 5 days it’s done a great job…

Re-scaping my secondary aquarium. This was a quarantine tank, and it was looking quite bare and plain.
I've added lots of lava rocks, plants, and moss from the main tank. I plan to start a shrimp colony here.

Whenever I set up a new tank, I plan on pulling the val out and replacing with some anubias or something low lying and distinct in color to fill that section out.
That would also be a great opportunity to rehome the endlers to a larger tank. Maybe they won't be as aggro w/ each other if they are in a 10g.
Either way, I am adding shrimp next week!!

after we moved, i didn't really have the energy/focus/time to keep up with my #aquascape (which makes me extra glad i waited to get any animals!) so it got totally overtaken by green algae or cyanobacteria (not sure which). it was thick enough that, after draining the tank, it was like fabric, lol.
not a whole lot died other than some water sprite and some java moss that the pothos cuttings decided to start using as substrate!

Day 10 tank update - I trimmed the plants down a bunch yesterday and did another big water change.
Water parameters were mostly reading the same throughout the week. Some ammonia showing, no nitrites, and an ambiguous nitrate reading. Ammonia has come back down today, so that's interesting!
Water looks super clear and plants all seem to be doing okay. 1/3

I read that Hornwort, Water Lettuce, and Susswassertang are great additions that grow fast and will help clear out excess nutrients. The store did not have Hornwort but they recommended Mayaca Fluviatilis as a substitute.
I think they are all solid additions to the tank and make it feel more established. 1/?

Set up my first aquascape yesterday :) 7 gallon cube tank that I set up Walstad Method.
I have some dwarf grass, some stem plants, some moss and a lotus plant in there with some round rocks and spider wood hardscaping. I am really excited about it! What a fun hobby! #aquarium #aquascape #aquascaping

Here are pictures of my older, established tank! There is a colony of red cherry shrimp living in this one. It is low-tech, I grew the "grass" using a dry start method, no c02 used :3

My #amano #aquarium is now empty and all my #shrimp moved into my main aquarium. Let's hope they'll all make it. There were ~60 baby amano I've moved. In some weeks, this aquarium will be an #aquascape, but that's all I know.

Tag 3. Heute erster Wasserwechsel. Das ging erstaunlich gut.
Die CO₂ Anlage und der Dauertest sind installiert, aber noch nicht justiert.
Das Xmas-Moos ist inzwischen schon heftig voller Algen. Also werden die Schnecken ordentlich was zu futtern haben, wenn sie nächste Woche einziehen.
